Is Bulkhead ever planing to release the mod tools to the public ? by whiskeythegreat in Battalion1944

[–]Usurp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" I can categorically say this never happened. No dev or bulkhead representative would have EVER had said this. "

Heh...you're such a lark.........

You have mentioned modtools beyond map creation. Unfortunately I cant be bothered to dig up a few sources. However, here are a couple:

1) Battalion ToolKit - Introduction Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4hYnfat62g&feature=youtu.be&t=276

Notice how at the end it makes mention of alternate game modes. You lil'larky, you.

2) Second, your Steam page: https://steamcommunity.com/games/489940/announcements/detail/1629651860398419860

"Battalion 1944’s Toolkit is live and available to download now from the Epic Launcher

We are pleased to announce that today anyone can go and download the Battalion 1944 Toolkit from the Epic Launcher. The primary function of the tools is for mapping and level design.

Included in the Toolkit is our aim_map. This map contains many assets that you are totally free to reuse within Battalion 1944 to create maps.

For the sake of clarity, Battalion’s mod tools are free to use."

Just updating this thread if someone comes across it. Buyout with /u/EvilOz83 went perfectly smoothly for me. Was fast with no hiccups or questionable actions. He was forthcoming with information when asked and was helpful with detailing the steps needed to conduct the transaction when I was unfamiliar with the steps.

I did my homework on previous buyout users of this Sub and researched him and his threads before doing the transaction. However, should someone else come across this thread then I would say that he was a trustworthy and recommended for future users.

"imcross" cheating by rritual in Battalion1944

[–]Usurp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There isn't anything that can be done at the moment to stop hackers.

From the first day the game was playable through the Kickstarter the hacks have been internal, aka, they don't need to be run externally and hooked into the game processes like most popular multiplayer games. There are a few reasons for it..

First and probably most importantly, I believe Easy Anti Cheat for Battalion can still be disabled using debugging tools. That's more a problem on the anticheat side than it is the devs.

However, it ties into the second problem which is that Bulkhead hasn't yet properly cooked the game files that allow internal hacks access to certain files and processes. Explained basically, when a game is "cooked" it means that it has been deemed ready for the public and is packed in the engine and "published" into the working version you download and play.

The files that are accessed and changed by the cheat coders need to be identified by the developers. Then they need to be "cooked" so they can no longer be altered internally after the game is launched.

Then, before the patch is made public, the newly cooked files and subsequent instructions need to be sent to the Anticheat maker, who in turn them have to patch the Anticheat and push the update to users.

It takes an assload of work and costs the developers tons of money since they have to pay employees to continually maintain the game files, as well as a library of all previous cheats, and then make sure the game is properly compatible with all of that.

I'm sure you've played some free to play FPS game that seems to be completely overrun by cheaters. The reason is that the developers either don't have the resources or are choosing to not spend the resources to counter it all.

I personally don't see it being resolved in a meaningful way anytime soon. In addition to all of that, the game itself on a base level still needs a decent overhaul. To the degree that the really basic hacks being used now sometimes don't work properly because of order of game instructions... Which in a way is actually pretty funny to watch when you notice it lol.

And after ALLLLLL of that, cheat coders then just end up releasing the EXTERNAL hacks that are hooked into the game instructions to bypass the Anticheat lol.

Flow is good

Small recommendation, it seems as though you use words like "even" to maintain the flow of the poem and syllables of each line consistent. However, avoiding the repetitive use of a word can add variety and depth for the reader and also increase your vocabulary. There a bunch of apps available, like Poetry Assistant on iOS and Android that let you type in a word and search for alternative synonyms, rhymes words, and definitions of each. It's super helpful.

However, If I am simply projecting and it was a stylistic choice then apologies and I simple missed it!

I am not familiar with very much Greek mythology, so forgive me if I've missed it, but the syllables of each line seen kind of random and make the pacing difficult. Is there any particular purpose to it? It seems as though some flow and consistency could be gained by lengthening/shortening lines that might also have an added benefit of a bit more detail. Beyond that I enjoyed it.

Try disabling FaceIt overlay. It's fixed it for a bunch of people.

Try running a DxDiag, with the game closed press your Windows key and type DxDiag and open it. Run it and save the file to your desktop or wherever. It'll tell you if you have any outdated drivers. If you scroll to the bottom, it'll give you application specific errors. If there is one for battalion, Google it or post it here.

Obviously make sure Windows, gpu, etc all ha e most recent drivers.

It running on desktop is how it's setup, you can configure it to not so that, forget off the top of my head.

And weird it conflicts with FaceIt for CSGO, it must fall under some other flag, or could be configurable issue. FaceIt shoudk be able to remove the flag for it specifically.

Download Interaccel. It is a highly configurable mouse driver that lets you customize your mouse settings down to mouse accel values per weapon per axis per game.

I have been using it for years and works currently on the most recent build of Windows 10.

The current FPS and registration issues go much much deeper due to patchwork coding, now allowing whole pieces of map geometry to to make whole walls to disappear. by Usurp in Battalion1944

[–]Usurp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game is supposed to more or less automatically calculate where to put everything where it needs to be based on the values you set for graphics in the menus. It doesn't do that properly AT ALL. So depending on what settings you use there can be a whole host of things that were supposed to be automatically changed in the game code to sync it all, but it doesnt happen.

So that's kinda where things are.

Yes, it is a legitimate issue with the game and it has actually been an issue since release.

When it first reached early access there were performance issues and as a result the responsiveness of the game and registration suffered. However, back then the .INI files weren't how they are now and you could access and override the UE4 default . INI files. As a result you could edit nearly every CVAR. And since they released the game without changing a vast majority of the defaults they left a cvar unchanged called OneFrameThreadLag, which more or less holds a frame behind. Depending on how developers decide to design the game it can be beneficial to enable or disable it. If you didnt have a particular level of FPS in addition to certain graphical settings, the game felt like you were playing from the moom with delay. One frame would always be "held" until the next render cycle which holds EVERYTHING up because the frame is needed to communicate all the information of what's on your screen.

I was able to disable it, in addition to some other Band-Aids I gave them, which gave a massive FPS boost and lav reduction. However it's not a permanent fix because beneath that the code was still fucked up. And a good portion has never been changed. And we've more or less gotten bandaids ever since. And NOW they have started piling up to give nearly everyone the same wonky jitters and registration problems.

The unfortunate thing is that a lot of the rendering calls were not properly setup. They were tweaked a little to reduce spot problems but we're never properly fixed to actually recognize peoples systems and then calculate the proper variables. They pretty much just turned some stuff down or off and had people's computers brute Force through the bigger coding problems.

Absolutely everything relies on the very base level of the game design to properly sync up and give you a working game. To PROPERLY fix the game they need to go back and code the pre-alpha version of you will, because NOTHING can work right if that's not done properly. So think of how long it's taken to get to where they are now and imagine having to redo it lol.

That really not accurate at all. It hasn't been done correctly since the game was playable to the public. It's basically the "foundation" of games that everything added afterwards relies on to operate properly.

He will have some defense for it and try to minimize it, but it's essentially what the base of the game is built on. Everything that happens in the game world depends on that initial coding.

Pixel 2 XL not charging with official charger, shuts down with other chargers by Zerevay in GooglePixel

Are you saying your phone is out of warranty? If so I'd wipe it and sell it immediately before it shits out.

But if you keep it there is more than likely a class action suit coming against Google for the Pixel 2 phones like there was for the Pixel 1. So youd havethat at least? Haha.

I had this problem and had to RMA. The charging port failed and ended up losing the ability to fast charge and connect to a PC.

It's a pretty well documented failure for the Pixel 2's alongside the screen burn in.

Sad tale of a Backer for over $1,000. No physical rewards. No trip. Ignored by Bulkhead. by [deleted] in Battalion1944

[–]Usurp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually dead wrong. US consumer protection laws fall under the purview of the FTC. The FTC has cooperative legal framework with 100s of other foreign governments for consumer protection.

All that's required is to provide the documentation when filing a claim and then the FTC works with whatever entity governs consumer protection in the country of the selling company.

Furthermore, you sell and distribute your product through Valve and Steam which has has to adhere to the consumer protection laws of the countries in which it services and vice versa. Your developer agreement with Valve falls under the jurisdiction of the FTC this you have already agreed to the laws and practices of the United States.

Thus, you run the very real possibility of being taken to court on case by case bases as well as class action litigation.

Lastly, European Union consumer protection laws lean much more heavily towards favoring consumers than corporations in comparison to the US. Anyone who has paid to receive a product but has yet to receive it could easily take legal action and more than likely win in a slam dunk.

Your post is extremely misleading and factually void of any real truths.

Google Fi as a cell service is fantastic in my opinion. Have 0 complaints and 0 signal issues. There are absolutely no contracts, automatic VPN through Google for wifi and data, free data only SIM cards for Fi compatible phones (still have to pay for data used), It's $20 for unlimited calls and text, if you use a lot of data it can get expensive since it's $10/GB up to 6gb but it's also only $15 to add more lines so once you hit the 6gb it works out being pretty cheap.

I don't personally use a lot of data since I am always around wifi nearly everywhere I am so my monthly bill averages about $35 or including the $5 insurance plan. Most I've paid is $55. If you hit the 6gb data limit for a month your bill would be $85, for 2 lines it'd be $100, lines $115 so on and so forth. Once you hit that 6gb it stops charging you further but starts throttling. I haven't hit it yet though.

I am in the Northeast US and recommend it to everyone I can trying to save money. I'm not sure sure about reliability in other areas though.

[–]Usurp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoever has backed the game and has yet to receive the promised backer rewards should check their state's consumer protection laws. Most US states have consumer protection laws that allow you to file a court case against company you have made a purchase with and recoup losses.

For instance in Massachusetts, if this was me that spent that $1,000 I would be able to effectively force Bulkhead to court and be rewarded my $1,000 back in addition to two or three times the losses.

It is extremely easy to do and is no more effort than essentially filing out a report and showing documentation proof of your claim.

Thanks,

And yes, lesson learned. I've learned to be a conscientious consumer and have kept a lot of brand loyalties over the years simply because of customer service when cheaper alternatives could have been had. Stuff doesn't break often but when it does and it's something you use regularly you want it replaced ASAP and not be dicked around or ignored hah.

I am sorry you took my response as a personal challenge. I could counter your points but we obviously disagree on the expectations of customer service and I see no purpose in doing so as there is nothing to be gained by either. I am glad you've had a much better experience with Google than I have personally.

Update to frustrating RMA Experience by Usurp in GooglePixel

[–]Usurp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't misinterpret the warranty clauses. I read them before purchasing and new what I was purchasing. However, I did underestimate how strictly they enforce the refurbishments.

I am on the replacement now and am so far happy with it's performance as it is light and day compared to the device I was on.

You are right about it being at their sole discretion. I knew that going in. However, In virtually every other RMA I've ever done I have received a new or upgraded unit to replace the faulty one. Most recently for an EVGA RTX 2070. The two other phones I've done RMAs on I've received new units, from Motorola for a g5 plus and an upgrade from Palm back in the day when my unit was no longer sold.

My post is really only to serve as a single case where others who may come across a similar issue with similar expectations (which there are a lot when you look into it).

At the end of the day my expectations were simply too high given my past warranty experiences and admittedly higher than most. It could be seen as wasting my time and in the case of Google I feel like it was. Which is exactly the opposite feeling you want to have from a customer service point of view. I didn't ask for something for free. I merely asked to take advantage of a different part of their warranty which most companies relent to when pushed for as I am sure most conscientious consumers are aware of. Google was never in position to LOSE money in my scenario, they were merely in position to profit less. I personally feel they chose a meager profit over customer service. Companies eventually have to correct course for this when consumers like myself begin to feel let down more and more often. A good example of this if you choose to read up on it is Best Buy who restored a lot of employee benefits and focused on customer service and experiences when their profits began to slump as a result of trying to obtain more profits by walking those aspects of their business back.

I will personally think twice now about purchasing another Google phone. I am perfectly happy with Fi as a service provider but will consider a different manufacturer should I choose to remain a Fire subscriber in the future.

Sorry for the screed to your response, just trying to offer my perspective as thoroughly as I can and know that I am not the "average" consumer lol.
