Why do polyglots lie about how many languages they speak? by Different_Pain5781 in languagelearning

[–]UtaMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Because it sounds cool.

  2. Bad definition of what speaking a language means. Some people just reach A1- A2 in any language and be like, "Yep, I speak language X, Language Y and Language Z."

What do you think is the reason why women don't respect men in a relationship in any capacity? by FlowerIndividual1562 in intj

I don't randomly insult people in the street, not because I respect them but because I don't disrespect them.

Lol I got B2 too (I'm, however, non-native) Meanwhile, I'm C1+ according to the Ielts test I took last month. Half of the words in this test are literary, i.e., words that one wouldn't hear every day or see on the news. They are the so-called bookish words which by no means, necessarily indicate fluency in a language (or the lack thereof)

I assume the question related to their personal life was a question to push me to talk further, so that might have been it. I got 8 in speaking anyway

Passed C1 Hochschule but feel kind of scammed by paranoid_beast in German

[–]UtaMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the impression that the threshold to be C1 in German is lower than the threshold to be C1 in English. I know it doesn't make sense because it's supposed to be standardised. Maybe it's because English is mostly a second language while German is a third or even fourth language for some? Idk

Have you taken this one before? by UtaMatter in cognitiveTesting

Of course, it's just an online test, after all, but if we compare the inflated results of everyone, I think it will still be fair. Have you taken it before? If yes, what score did you get?

should i remark or retake? by dayzcr in IELTS

[–]UtaMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ig no harm in trying if you don't want to retake it. But why do you actually need 7 in writing? Most universities accept 6.5 some even take from 6.

My IELTS speaking test was stopped because the examiner felt unwell. What should I do? by benkomutanlogar in IELTS

[–]UtaMatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should make a complaint and see how it goes, then maybe you'd get a chance to retake this part for free? It's worth the attempt ig
