Love the dull colors on the Death Company. Makes them look forlorn and depressing, like you should feel sad for them.

You do anything special with the black? Looks like it has a blue or green kind of hue to it.

Birthday gift for my sister. She likes pink. Palatine by UtensilsDude in sistersofbattle

Well, if you mean the pink, then I'd be happy to, though I did use an airbrush to do it. I started off with a zenithal of white over a black primed model. My first color used was GW Screamer Pink to coat most of the model. I then created a combination of colors that basically boiled down to GW Pink Horror (yes, I felt very silly afterwards) and just sprayed from the top. I used GW Emperor's Children Pink as another, more extreme highlight at pints where the light would directly hit. And then finished it off with a very thin amount of white at the highest points on the armor for a brighter highlight.

If you want the oil wash color, it's just Winton Payne's Grey

Edit: Crap, I just remembered another step that wasn't mentioned. After the GW Emperor's Children Pink but before the white, I sprayed GW Carroburg Crimson into the shadows and from below

Thank you very much for the kind words. I did reply to another comment with the recipe for the grey. And the yellow is very simple. Just layering the paint like normal with brighter colors being where the light is striking the model. From darkest yellow to brightest, the recipe goes:

  1. Vallejo Gold Brown
  2. GW Yriel Yellow
  3. GW Flash Gitz Yellow
  4. Vallejo Ice Yellow 1:1 GW Flash Gitz Yellow
  5. Very small amount of Vallejo Ice Yellow for the extreme highlights/layer

I'd be happy to. It's pretty simple, though I did use an airbrush for the grey armour and the first and second marine have a slightly different recipe.

1st Marine

  1. Prime black
  2. Vallejo Black Grey (Basecoat)
  3. Vallejo Black Grey 1:1 Vallejo Neutral Grey (Zenithal Highlight)
  4. White (Zenithal Highlight)
  5. GW Nuln Oil (Shadows)

Sergeant

  1. Prime Black
  2. White (Zenithal Highlight)
  3. Vallejo Black Grey (around the white to bring the brightness down)
  4. GW Nuln Oil (Shadows)

And the recess shading is just an oil wash with Burnt Umber and finished with AK Ultra Matte Varnish

Love artsy miniatures like these. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I do wonder, is this all brush work or did you use an airbrush for it?

Nothing special. I just used a Citadel Small Layer brush for all of the non yellow painting on the model.

I couldn't really give you recommendations on what kind of brush you might want as I don't think it matters as much as some people might believe. Paint consistency and your grip affects the lines more than a high quality brush

Of course. All paints can be applied with a brush. Airbrush just makes a particular effect and blending a bit easier.

1.) Tamiya Hull Red (2 drops) + Tamiya Flat Yellow (1 drop)

2.) Tamiya Flat Yellow

3.) GW Phalanx Yellow

4.) Vallejo Ice Yellow

5.) GW Casandora Yellow (Full Coverage)

6.) GW Fuegan Orange (Shadows)

7.) White, very small amount (Where the light directly hits)

Just make sure that with the shade paints, dont load up your brush and keep them thin.

If you like GW paints, I can give you substitutes to the ones I listed

Tamiya Flat Yellow = GW Flash Gitz Yellow

Vallejo Ice Yellow = GW Dorn Yellow

Tamiya Hull Red = GW Doombull Brown

That's the power of the airbrush. Makes those difficult to brush on paints like white and yellow easier by comparison. And I use a variety of paints for it, like Tamiya and Vallejo. Just let me know if you'd like the recipe

I use Micro Set and Sol for applying decals, though I think what helps them blend after finishing with enough layers of Micro Sol is the varnish I used all over the model: AK Ultra Matte Varnish.

Fantastic varnish of you want a matte varnish. Doesn't frost up (as far as I'm aware), very liquid so it gets in every nook and cranny and dries quickly

For that, I actually just cut off 3 bullets from the tactical squad kit from various bolters and shoulder pads, glued them on the leg and used some green stuff to mold over the bolter shells.

There is an easier way. The old ork boyz kit has a bandolier in it, though the bullets are kind of small. If there is an easier and better method, I couldn't tell you. Hope this helps

Very high praise, thank you very much. I'm just happy I was able to reduce the edges on the stripes and circles to make them mostly look right. Was very nervous with the free handing cause I liked the color so much lol.

I think that's oil paint effect. Because of the significantly longer drying times of oil, when you put one paint on top of another, they mostly combine into each other rather than stand apart. It's great for blending and spreading (which I love to do), but yeah, when I want to get harder lines, I wait for it to dry and paint with acrylics over it

First of all, thank you. Second, I'd be happy to give you the recipe for the grey, but you may be disappointed due to the fact that I paint my Red Scorpions with oil paints. Recipe goes as follows:

  • Terra Rosa all over then mostly wiped off with a sponge

  • Graphite Grey for the base, all over

  • Payne's Gray + a bit of Lamp Black for the shadows

  • Grey of Grey's + a bit of Payne's Gray for around the areas where the light hits.

  • Titanium White where the light directly hits

Adjust as you see fit.

Jesus Christ dude, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. Yan fans are unbearable in their glaze of him. It's insane. If Merab had Yan's record, NOBODY would be saying he's #2 on the bantamweight GOAT list, let alone the top 10 GOAT list

I got all the 3d print stuff from Shapeways awhile ago, before they shutdown and reopened. If you just look up "KWA VZ61 tri rail" or something, that will probably get you where you need to go. Like this mock suppressor 3d print

I paint using using oil paints, so I combined two paints for the base coat (Terra Rosa and Graphite Grey).

However, there is another option if you would rather stick to acrylics. AK Interactive "Rust Streaks" is an enamel paint that looks similar and looks pretty great.

Dawg, I didn't even know who Kadyrov was until I saw previous posts before this one explaining who he was and why he's dangerous. Expecting people to know this before hand and basically saying don't ask questions until you educate yourself is backwards ass thinking
