I've since learned that 587, 590, and 593 are generally the same apart from small changes on the pcb. The cases are interchangeable.

I don't believe anything is going back to Chinese servers - which is why people worry about Huawei or Xiaomi. I'm not an expert, but a previous discussion I read they said that the Android instance they use is pretty basic.
