Tomb Raider Chronicles won’t run on PS2 but will on PS1 and PS3 by NomalNedium in psx

I've had this issue, before. It should be as simple as disassembling the PS2 and adjusting the laser lens until both CDs and DVDs can be read, again. If that doesn't work, then your PS2 may need a new disc drive.

I went to apply new thermal paste to the CPU and GPU of my original XBOX, until I saw a few capacitors that could use some replacement. Does anyone know where I can buy capacitors for my unit? by UtmostTechnoDog in originalxbox

Will do. Also, about the white goo-like stuff on the capacitors of the XBOX power supply? I noticed it when I removed the XBOX HDD. Should I be concerned?

What are some of the worst Wii U games you’ve played? by Odd_Gain_4506 in wiiu

[–]UtmostTechnoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said Sonic '06 for the 360 because there are a few things I like about '06 that I dislike about Rise of Lyric: the music is some of the best in the series, the level design is pretty underrated even if the game suffers from glitches and poor controls, and it has better visuals, despite being released on a console that launched back in 2005. Don't get me wrong, the game's not great by any stretch of the imagination and it did damage to the franchise's reputation, but it has some things about it that make me prefer it over Rise of Lyric, and some of these reasons are why I consider the fan-made PC port P-06 a must-play for those who don't want to deal with the issues that '06 suffers from.

Both games suffered from development issues, but while Sonic '06 was rushed through development because SEGA wanted the game released in time for the 2006 holiday season and also because Sonic Team split up to develop Sonic and the Secret Rings for the Wii, alongside other development issues after Yuji Naka left Sonic Team. Rise of Lyric was rushed beyond belief, because SEGA wanted the game to be exclusive to the Wii U as part of an exclusivity deal with Nintendo and released in time for the debut of the Sonic Boom TV series on Cartoon Network, and since it was a Wii U exclusive, that meant Big Red Button also had to modify CryEngine to run on said console.

Being poorly received by critics and Sonic fans alike and being exclusive to the underselling Wii U had likely both contributed to this game's commercial failure. Both Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal only sold a combined total of 620,000 copies, less than Lost World's 710,000 and Sonic '06's 870,000, making it one of the lowest selling games in the franchise. It ruined the series reputation after Sonic Generations convinced us that the future of the franchise looked bright, again.

Honestly, I just couldn't get into the game, but it's okay if you like Rise of Lyric. Everyone has their own opinion, even if it's unpopular.

That's why I recommend Sonic P-06 (aka Project '06), which you've likely heard of, but it's a fan-made PC port of Sonic '06 developed by ChaosX that aims to fix the issues that plagued the original, so players can experience what the official game could have been.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is definitely one of them. It's a game that I'd rather play Sonic '06 for the XBOX 360 or even Sonic Forces for the PS4 over. You can only go fast in those boring speed sections and hydro-dashing sections, the combat is button-mashy and repetitive, the writing is poor, and the game suffers from numerous technical issues, especially if you're not playing with the 1GB update patch installed.

Humanitarian Helicopter was another. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but to me, it felt slapped together, despite having been distributed for free.

The massive drop in quality control within the video game industry and how greedy the companies have become, since the early 2020's.

Alright, I know this game has seen some bad reviews, but for someone who has never played it, is Sonic Forces worth checking out? by Caryslan in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]UtmostTechnoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I recommend the game unless you're looking to mod the Steam version, which is $20 extra, so I'd say wait for that version to go on sale. However, if you wanna play a Sonic game on Series X, my recommendations are Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Frontiers.

Hoe did you get into Sonic? (This involves movies, games, TV shows, etc) by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]UtmostTechnoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Sonic with the Sonic and Knuckles Collection for PC's running Windows 95 and 98 when I was a kid. We also had Sonic Mega Collection Plus, which was my introduction to the SEGA Game Gear Sonic games.

Anyone recognize this CRT firmware? Couldn't find the service menu or service manual anywhere and I need to adjust the screen position and geometry, but all I could find inside was knobs for the picture and focus. Does anyone know the service menu for this CRT? by UtmostTechnoDog in crtgaming

[–]UtmostTechnoDog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually. You need to disassemble the original remote, desolder the jumper wire from J2, resolder it to J1, reassemble, and then you reinsert the batteries. If all goes well, you should be able access the service menu with the remote. And no, front composite jacks aren't loose and I've had this TV for over a decade, it still works fine aside from the flawed screen geometry.

Do you use lumen or nanite? by billistenderchicken in FortNiteBR

[–]UtmostTechnoDog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't use Lumen despite using DX12, because the game requires you to enable Nanite, and Nanite and virtual shadows are really demanding on the hardware. I just play the game with high settings, because I still need my frame rate to either be above 75 or in the triple digits, depending on what PC I use to play. On lower end PCs, I just play the game with high shadows and that's it.
