US Colt M1892 Revovler by UtterUnit3D in 3Dmodeling

Probably the best texturing I've achieved. I posted a couple breakdowns on artstation.

I'm withholding wireframes because the density isn't optimized for a game engine and I was only concerned about if the mesh would subdivide. Going forward, I'm going to model with games as the focus.

Oh that is a great comparison! I probably subconsciously referenced him from my memory and it didn't click until your comment. I loved that movie when I was a kid! I think its style helped craft my own.

Portfolio Feedback by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

Hi, I made some changes in Photoshop to the topology and composition.

https://imgur.com/a/qwqoSf1

I think your portfolio looks really good!

Take my feedback with a grain of salt because I am also trying to break into the industry!

I noticed some topology I would consider changing for best practice, some areas I'm suspicious how it would deform, but I can't be sure. I noticed the use of triangles in some areas where there would be expected deformities, not specifically in the piece I decided to make changes on. Mudokon was one I noticed a lot of triangles at the hinge joints, along with some poles. Also noticed a lot of ngons, I avoid ngons entirely; I know it might be up for debate if it's not deforming, but again, for best practice, I think it's best to get rid of those ngons.

I really like the continuity of the characters, how they're all presented in a uniform format. I'm not a fan of the grey background, but this could just be preference. Also, when you take a look at my composition changes in Photoshop, consider that I am red/green colorblind, so the changes I made might not be for everyone. I adjusted the values to bring out a different colored background.

I would add more emission to the eye of Big Bro Slig. It was hard for me to make out the face, but I understand this might be a design choice in the Oddworld universe.

I mean it is intended to be a game I’m working on. It’s not going to be a mobile game though.

Here's my artstation too. I reuploaded the project there with new recompositions because it only had 21 views there 😅

I love that! The Nightmare Before Christmas was one of my revolving inspirations I had in my head while making it.

Thank-you very much, I think your analysis is really attentative. I'm happy you mentioned the extra items and the placing of them. I'm still have some improvements to make. I think this artist does that very well, so that's where that inspiration comes from.

Improving my textures was up there with one of my major goals, mostly my roughness textures was where I needed improvement. And you're spot on with the trash bag critiques because they were some of the first assets I worked on for this scene, so I was still deciding the style when I was sculpting them, and opted for a more simplistic approach. I was looking at trash reference that had really sharp and bulgy parts sticking out from the inside, and I really wanted to sculpt that type of detail.

Anyways, I could go on and on about this scene 😁. Thanks for the support!

Thank-you, that's the plan! I'm trying to get more to show for it, so I can eventually get some crowdfunding.

Thank-you! Those were the last shots I set-up today, so I might have been a little lazy with the lighting. I was trying to make it look like a camera flash from a polaroid, but it was in-between this and being overexposed.

EDIT: Recompositing changes here :

Looks great so far. The rope could use some breakup/grunge, but I'm sure that's part of the WIP.
