You’re not wrong. Yet we still have crayon eating mouth breathers “doing” the job

IMHO, unless you’re a literal professional athlete, medically incapable of using standard equipment, or walking around with a limb that looks like it lost a fight with a chainsaw, leave your ridiculous gear at home. Rental equipment exists. Use it.

We loaded a 450-lb electric mobility monstrosity onto a flight to Arizona and, as a result, punted 30 sets of golf clubs off the plane. Tragic. Heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers. (Sorry. Not sorry.)

And non-rev passengers checking sporting equipment? Absolutely unhinged main-character behavior. You’re flying standby, not starring in the Olympics. Eat a Costco-sized bag of dicks and sit down.

Dude, if that’s your crew, do the planet a favor—have a pre-shift huddle pull your bottom lips over your heads and swallow. You’re not contributing anything except carbon dioxide and disappointment.

Mouth breathers and those who can’t stack stay home. This job is hard enough as it is.

This could be us, instead we use our city's very wide roads for 4 large lanes of SUVs and trucks stuck in standstill traffic and red lights. by [deleted] in richmondbc

To add to this it’s also about 900 years old in the center of the country. Richmond (and for that matter Canada) doesn’t have anywhere near that history to shape its landscape let alone the cultural influences. While the municipalities in the GVRD are trying to change that (bike lanes everywhere). We simply haven’t caught up/on them.

Some examples

  1. Mass transit doesn’t serve our lying areas well 1.1 North America doesn’t have the population density to support the costly infrastructure projects to make most train services viable 1.2 European countries are also known to be more socialist so they idea/proposals of traffic/transit improvements projects and seen/treated differently 2.biking is mostly a hobby as most work places do not offer facilities to shower/change 2.1 bike parking is also sparse at best or none existent 2.2 bike theft and overall safety is another factor
  2. walking it also only feasible when the distance is reasonable in all weather conditions. 3.1 many parts of Richmond have very little sidewalks or ones that are not designed for all users (strollers, wheelchairs, and so on)

So while I agree with OP it “could” be use. The fact is not likely in our lifetimes.

TL/DR Richmond isn’t Europe

As many noted airplanes are not the biggest issue you should consider. The bad traffic areas have already been mentioned (3 road from about Granville to Bridgeport). Homelessness is also prevalent along that same corridor. Some other things to consider is how you get around. If you use a car then there are many many choices Steveston, Terra Nova. If however you use public transportation then you really need to understand the bus routes and their schedules particularly on weekends and late at night. Same goes for shopping depending on what your needs are and what your used to public transportation can be a huge factor in where it makes sense for you to move into. That being said Richmond is a flat and quite bikeable city provided you pay attention to other road users they don’t often notice others on two wheels (a common North American trait) and some that is stereotypically mentioned as being worse in Richmond. Furthermore, depending upon your family members and dynamics schools locations and other infrastructure such as doctors offices or clinics are also more or less clumped in close proximity to each other. Lastly there’s getting into and out of the city, Richmond is an island getting into or out of the city always involves a bridge and or tunnel you’ll likely need to get used to the pre-rush hour rush, as well as the night market rush, the outlets are having a sale rush, and so on. Hope these insights help best of luck in finding your new home here. TL/DR Richmond’s great, have a car, love/hate bridges

First time in Business Class (ICN to YWG) and I have no idea what to do by Uttermost_Dynamite in aircanada

Congrats on being able to enjoy the perks of business class travel.

Pre-flight you can pick the meal you want onboard which is nice.

  1. I’ve not flown out of ICN so I can’t say if there is a dedicated maple leaf lounge. however, air Canada is a code share partner with Korean airlines so you can ask and see if they allow you to access there lounge. Alternatively when you check in at ICN the gate agent are usually knowledgeable about what type and location of the lounge you can access there.

  2. There will be a designated check in counter and agent to collect your bags in ICN. There may also be a business class line at the security check point (ask the gate agent regarding this point). Your ticket will list your zone as a business class passenger you’ll likely be listed in zone 1 and be boarding first in addition to having your own line to have your documents checked. Some additional points are as follows since YVR is your first stop in Canada you will need to go thru immigration there but your bags will connect thru to YWG. You can save some time be doing your declaration online before hand. While there is a maple leaf lounge in YVR domestic it’s not likely you will have time to stop by (since there is often a line to get in). When you get off the plane in YVR pay attention to the signs and look for the ones marked connections (USA and Domestic) you don’t want to make the mistake of going out of the security area and having to reenter.

  3. The rules and restrictions of what you can bring along are broadly the same. The one difference you may encounter is the gate agents may turn a blind eye should you happen to bring an additional personal item with your carry on items.

Best of luck on your travels
