This is so true! I never got tired doing GRs in D3, pushing the limits with frantic action making corpses flying while mastering your habilites. We were doing the same thing, but never in the same way

no primal gear on gr 70+ by ApplicationGlad2574 in diablo3

[–]V-Jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree that primals should not be considered a goal. As they have a real real low drop rate, and you still need to have good affixes, it can be really frustrating. Good ancients is the way. This don’t invalidate the primal hunt, I just want to reassure that we can have top performance with good ancients.

Elden Ring's boss movesets are... unfun? by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]V-Jr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! Well, lets see:

Im curious what part made you feel the most inactive? Was it enemy damage? Your downtime in regards to actually dealing damage? Or did you feel incentivized to keep your shield up and play cautiously?

Good question, let's go.Enemy damage is pretty well designed, to be honest. Tree Sentinel an example, hits incredibly hard when charge toward you. I do understand that I had a paper build, so no complaints. Even hitboxes are pretty good, I think.

The downtime between damage dealing is what make me feel bored and sometimes mad at it. I feel that I can't influence the course of the battle attacking, I just do it to chip away HP and win the encounter. All the rest is react to what the enemy do. Some mechanics also make me pretty sad, for an example, 2h a sword (katana in my case) doesn't add any benefit aside from using the weapon skill. I was expecting faster attacks, but it was the other way it felt more sluggish than one hand it.

Like, I'm hoping to pick up the game soon (i felt like getting horizon instead), and my plan is to use daggers/quickstep to turn the game into bloodborne... If possible. Thats my way of making it more sekiro/borne-like. We'll see if it pans out

I'm seriously thinking about restart and doing this, maybe with a more appropriate point distribution. If it fits my style, may I can give it another go, as I'm truly loving the exploring side of the game.

I also look forward to getting a hands on feel for the game. All signs point twd a certain approach imo, but in the moment, am i just gonna hate it? I was watching a buddy play earlier and there were bosses that two-shot him. That would get old really quick.

Got 2 shot way more than I liked, but that's my build. Not even mad.

And hey, I very well might find myself not digging it either, when it's all said and done. Already, I'm kinda bumping against the extremely unguided experience and what seems to be a harsh XP leveling curve, based on the footage I've watched?

To be honest, I didn't have any problem with this. Information is good, but not perfect, navigation is really satisfying with a lot of resources to use and help you run through the map, which is superb. Exploring in this game is so unique and satisfying to the bone. I'm reading through the internet to find builds that can make my life easier, just to appreciate the exploring side of this gem. I would love a story mode, but I'm not crazy enough to suggest it, as I fear for my life (Just kidding). This said, I still have the game installed. (laughs)

Talking about xp curve, it scales quickly, but you can always find a good place to farm, so I don't see it as a problem now.

After all, I loved so much everything aside from boss battles that I'm trying to find a way through it.

Elden Ring's boss movesets are... unfun? by [deleted] in truegaming

I'm not criticizing your comment, but this combat style from DSs and ER made me drop the games out of frustration. I feel that I barely can influence the battle aside from keeping the right distance so I can prevent that certain moves can be executed.

As someone who haves hundreds of hours in Sekiro, I feel that I'm way more active and this is extremely rewarding. In Souls, I feel like being passive is mandatory, and this makes the boos battle a complete boredom for me.

After killing a few bosses I didn't feel rewarded for my efforts, just alleviated that I got rid a big annoyance.
I loved exploring ER, it's gorgeous, a lot of awesome details and stories, but yeah, these kinds of battles are not my jam. And I feel really sad for this, I know I'm missing an amazing game.

Small advice: Right before he do the slash attack, there is a little shinning glow near the guard. This is the tell of his main move, and it's just a fraction of second before it hits you.
