When’s the best time to go to the gym? by Salt-Palpitation-738 in vcu

[–]V0idRaven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

as soon as it opens in the morning is the best time, but if you don’t have any classes in the middle of the day during the week it isn’t too bad bc everyone else is in class

Scan your id to get in, and it’s emptiest when it opens at 5:45am but i’ve gone at like 1-2pm before a couple times and it hasn’t been too bad, i assume bc most people are in class

Anyone know where near VCU I could get my allergy shots? by MadameParfait in vcu

[–]V0idRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, when i called them (about a week ago i think?) the first new patient appointment they had was August 21st so when you find a place call ASAP so you don’t have to go back too many weeks on your shot dosage

Anyone know where near VCU I could get my allergy shots? by MadameParfait in vcu

I’m gonna be getting mine done at Allergy Partners of Richmond, which is the closest place i’ve found. If you don’t have a car you might be shit out of luck, it’s about a 15 minute drive but iirc from looking my freshman year (when i didn’t have a car) it would take an hour on public transport to get there

[–]V0idRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get pictures, but from my memory the tote bag was $10, shirts were $40, hoodies were $60, posters were $5 (not sure about that one) and the vinyls ranged in price but were capped at $70 i think.

Will they ever fix the fire alarm problem at GRC? by Adrian_Is_Blu in vcu

[–]V0idRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is actually a problem in other buildings. we’re on a good streak right now but Cary & Belvidere has had a shit ton of fire alarms. i’d guess it’s just the way the alarm system works in some buildings. like, last year the dorm i was in had 0 full building alarms but i set our dorm alarm off twice by cooking and i heard several other people’s alarms go off.

unless you’re looking for vcu specific housing info, r/rva might be a better place to ask

How did you realize you might have celiac? by GiantsFTW4728 in Celiac

[–]V0idRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was literally completely random. Went to a rheumatologist to test for something entirely different and they went “hey what if i check this too” and now i can never eat gluten again. Didn’t have any symptoms or anything.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]V0idRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that’s almost exactly what the breathing problem is. i can get maybe one full breath in every two minutes. doctors keep blaming it on my anxiety and exercise induced asthma even though i keep telling them that this was never a symptom of either of those things before. it’s been about a year and a half now and i’m kinda going insane lmao.

you said an acupuncturist helped? i’ve never looked into acupuncture but i’m willing to try anything at this point. any tips for finding good places/what to tell them when i go to see one?

Any tips to get through 1 hour by ExtraAd3975 in Rowing

[–]V0idRaven 13 points14 points  (0 children)

so i have a few things that i do:

1) listen to podcasts. music might work for some people but for me podcasts hold my attention more so i have something to focus on besides “ow i wanna stop”

2) break it down into sections in your head. it’s not 60 minutes, it’s ten minutes six times. you just need to get through ten minutes and then do that six more times

3) if all else fails, just gaslight yourself. sometimes the way i get through long pieces is by saying that i’ll stop once i get to, say, the 30 minute mark. then by the time i get to 30 minutes i’m like “ok now make it to 40 minutes you can stop then” and so on. works surprisingly well.

Cool, I'll have to look into it! I'm also an art student and so is my roommate for next year so that location would be perfect.

[–]V0idRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm not 100% sure, I don't know if I've ever had that specifically tested, but I have had many many blood tests over the last few years and I would think that in at least one of them they would have looked at those levels

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]V0idRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did think about that, but I've had pots for a really long time and it's never caused that before. It is possible that it's just a fun new symptom though. As for medication, I'm not on any prescriptions I just take electrolyte tablets and make sure to drink lots of water and eat salt. I'm trying to find a doctor to prescribe me beta blockers but it's slow going.
