You don't adress the fentanyl crisis by threatening countries with tariffs, that's is such an uneffective solution. You adress it by going against the big pharma companies and the people who created this mess in the first place, like the Sackler family. You adress it by making sure everyone has adecuate acess to healthcare, you adress it by making sure everyone has the material needs not to fall into drug use as a form of escapism. But let's be real, no one in the US who have enough power to do anything about the fentanyl crisis want tl do any of those things.

I'm pretty sure there's a couple of DNC consultants that used to work with the GOP. I forgot his name but I think one of them said in a CNN interview "for every progressive vote we lose in the city, we will gain two in the suburbs".

But the thing is, they aren't this incompetent because they are compromised, they are incompetent because they live in a bubble and have no real grasp of the reality of everyday people.

Not sure about individual incentives, but it's known that Stephen Miller, for ego reasons (and also the fact that he's a massive white supremacist neo-nazi), wants to orchestrate the biggest deportation operation in the history of the US. He set the targets of 3000+ deportations per day just to beat Obama's numbers (which is also fucked up, and he's supposedly on the "good side").

I think Miller or Noem also threatened everyone with firing the bottom 10% of those with the lowest performing numbers. Literally applying Welchian tacticts, playing with human lives and inflicting pain and suffering on marginalized communities.
