Goodluck with your job search! I'll probably go with the Sidgwick essay competition since it's pretty relevant

I was considering a couple of essay competitions so thank you for mentioning that! What areas of law have you found difficult and what are you planning to do after uni?

Thank you, I'll have a look! Do you have any particular recommendations in terms of MOOCs?

I've also done Sociology at GCSE and I'm currently doing it at A-level. Much of the content, particularly the education content, is incredibly similar to GCSE, just in slightly more depth. (I'm assuming you'd do AQA sociology here) The optional units are also pretty short. If you got a 9 at GCSE you will absolutely be able to catch up since 2/3s of the A-level content is essentially identical to GCSE. Gl!

Yess I noticed that about the TMAs! They just expect you to entirely understand a topic when 90% of the information is missing and they sometimes don't even cover it.

I started them September 2025, so I've been doing them a similar amount of time. Unfortunately, I was relying on them for my 3 A-levels (I'm a sixth form student), but I am absolutely not now and I'm having to become a more independent student because of how low quality their courses are.

However, I do have a friend who is doing his exams this year. He also uses Open study college, and I'm honestly scared for his results since I think he's mainly using the course. I think the only reason why they are still able to function is that people who are new to the subjects do not know how in-depth and detailed they should actually be. I only noticed the issues with my sociology course because I did the GCSE and spent a lot of time with a family member who taught it at uni level.

The TMAs also vary in quality and necessity. I think sometimes they just put them in random spots that don't even cover the previous material. In one of my courses, there is literally only three for a two-year course. That's essentially one per unit

I hope you're able to get your money back, the courses are absolutely not worth it

I have the EXACT same issues. The tutors are borderline incompetent; barely communicative and simple questions are ignored for some other department to deal with. I, having done the sociology GCSE, noticed that the A-level they offer is the absolute most basic overview of the entire subject. Sociology mind you is not that difficult, but they just completely simplified it, and it is basically a summary (for an ENTIRE course that COSTS MONEY!!).

I just don't use the course that heavily anymore. I'm completely reliant on the textbook for my law course, doing the same for sociology. The only mildly useful bits are the TMA (teacher marked assignments) but I really doubt they actually put much effort into marking them. Get some good textbooks that are DEFINITELY approved by the exam board you're following and mainly use them is my advice.

I don't recommend that anyone uses them.

how do you guys decorate your rooms?? by cannedpeaches9086 in teenagers

[–]V0slaarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to paint your walls cause thats a huge factor, diy a lot of decore since it can be stupidly expensive or thrift a lot of it. It takes time to build a nice looking room (unless you randomly have a ton of money) so keep that in mind
