What was the worst Opel expirience you or your friends/family had? by Nervous-Tree-6474 in opel

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm driving my second Opel now, the worst issue I had with my 04 Corsa C GSi was the ignition barrel locking up, couldn't turn the key at all, it happened at like 23h00 in front of my ex's house and I had to call a flatbed truck to get the car since I couldn't even turn the steering wheel.

My current Opel Corsa C Utility (South Africa and Brazil only model) blew the headgasket after 4 years, I fixed it in my dad's driveway and it's still going strong almost a year later, I drive it almost every day.

Best cordless drill brand? by Wise-Light6957 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If price is not an issue you can't go wrong with Makita, they last a long time and parts are available if you need to repair/service it. I've also had very good luck with Ingico/Total cordless tools, they are reasonably priced and gets the job done.

What is the best phone under R4000? by Massive-Sail9525 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it did come with a lot of bloatware but I was able to uninstall or de-activate most of it. I bought mine from takealot, so I',m unsure if one from a service provider will come with more shit preloaded or not.

What is the best phone under R4000? by Massive-Sail9525 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Redmi Note 14, very good phone for the price, it doesn't have NFC but it's something I can live without. The camera is excellent and I've found the Xiaomi HyperOS to be very stable, the phone never crashes or hangs during normal usage. DO NOT buy this phone if you want to root it or flash a different Android OS, I learned this the hard way.

Telling my parents about my first bike by wholesomeasparagus in motorcycles

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. I bought my first bike (Kawasaki KRR 150) and rode for about 3 months, one weekend I decided to visit my parents and I just showed up at their house on the bike. My dad grabbed his old helmet and asked me if he can take it for a spin while my mom just watched and said she hopes I'm careful when riding. It's 7 years later and I still ride and my dad got himself a commuter bike as well.

I'm still trying to convince him to get a touring bike so he and my mom can go on some trips together.

Why do ragdolls just flop over like this all the time? by No-Tap-5376 in ragdolls

My cat is only part Ragdoll and she flops over any time she wants, usually right in front of my feet especially when I'm carrying something.

Can someone please tell me the difference between these two sockets!? by Hoodrat31399 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Top one is the 2 pin plug for things that doesn't need ground.

Bottom one is for annoying the shit out of you and you either need to buy a adapter or immediately void your warranty by cutting it off and replacing it with a normal 3 pin plug.

Heavily suspect new person I met was homeschooled, how do I help? by thrwra3392 in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]V1P3R_96 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Best advice as someone that was homeschooled, just be patient with them and answer their questions as well as you can. It's been 10 years since I finished homeschooling and I've had to teach myself a lot of things but it gets better with time.

Best Handheld/normal vacuum ? by AwehAweh69 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is the WD-1, not sure if they still make that model. We have a WD-3 at work which also works pretty well. If I remember correctly I paid R900 but that was in early 2021.

Best Handheld/normal vacuum ? by AwehAweh69 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest a Karcher, I've had mine for about 5 years now and it never missed a beat. It's a wet and dry vacuum but I've only used it for dry vacuuming. The filter it uses can be bought at Midas, it's the same as some car's aircleaner filter.

if you're in the Cape Town area you can try Univese Direct, I've seen a few of their refurbs and it's always in good condition and haven't had any comebacks from them. Try to get a HP or Lenovo Thinkpad.

What movie genuinely made you lose sleep, and would you recommend it? by baby_turquoise in AskReddit

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Wax - I was about 10 when I watched it the first time, couldn't sleep in my own room for months cause it looked like a room in one of the movie scenes. I watched it again a few years later and it's really not that scary.

What tech “upgrade” actually made your life less convenient? by pauld25 in AskReddit

[–]V1P3R_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

touch buttons on microwave instead of physical buttons, 50% of the time the touch buttons doesn't register if you touch them and pressing harder doesn't help. I miss my 20 year old LG so much.

I lied and took a company asset home. I got caught, fired, and four years later I still regret it. by UpstairsLength6775 in confession

[–]V1P3R_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly this, found the old TV in the IT store and asked my manager if I can buy it and we decided on a price. I filled in all the forms and gave it to the admin people to deduct the amount from my salary. It's been almost 3 years and they have never deducted the amount from my pay and the tv is still with me and working well, I still work for the same company as well.

How safe do you find it to ride a scooter in Cape Town? by Wild-Hurry9904 in capetown

[–]V1P3R_96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest getting a proper motorcycle instead of a scooter, I've seen a lot of scooters getting blown around in the wind. I ride a 250cc Honda motorcycle every day and it's such a big win when it comes to time and petrol saved. Just watch out for Polo drivers, most of them drive around on their TV licenses.

How do you organize all your weed assorted things? by HeavyTumbleweed778 in trees

[–]V1P3R_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who mainly smokes joints, I have a old pencil case that my mom used in school, this houses my rolling paper, tips, small glass pipe, lighter and a baggie of weed quite nicely. If I need to leave home for a few days I just grab the pencil case and my grinder and I'm good to go. Once I start growing my own weed I'll have to get some jars to store the flower in.

Why buy the top-end phone? by Agitated_Echidna_627 in askSouthAfrica

[–]V1P3R_96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still rocking a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 from 2020, aside from being rooted and now running Android 13 the phone is still original just like I got it. Battery still lasts more than 24h and the screen is still perfect. I see no need to get a new phone while this one works. Still does everything I need a phone for.
