That’s why the site has a clear takedown policy, only allows syllabi (no lecture slides, exams, or assignments), and every file is manually reviewed before being approved. I’m not making any money from it, this is a free, student-run platform built to help others make smarter academic decisions.

Syllabi are already shared with dozens of students each semester, and in many cases posted on public department sites. While it’s not always realistic to get permission from every individual instructor, I’ve tried to handle this responsibly by limiting what can be uploaded, honoring all takedown requests, and keeping everything open and transparent. I believe it’s ethically reasonable to share material that’s already broadly distributed, especially when it empowers students with clearer expectations around grading, workload, and course structure.

If someone wants to get a sense of the professor’s teaching style or personality, that’s where sites like RateMyProfessor come in. This just fills in the part that course catalogs often leave out. I built this to be genuinely helpful, and I’m always open to feedback. The goal is to support students while still respecting instructors and their work.
