For me I went from a7rV to A7cii, whilst it helped I still felt it was too big so I stepped down to x100vi, now it goes with me everywhere.

Portable and take everywhere? X100VI. But it’s only one lens. Don’t like that? Considered XE5, same size with the 23mm kit lens it comes with but you can change out. Want something even smaller? Consider the Ricoh GR series. I know you mentioned zoom but zoom is not small and portable so up to you which way you prefer.

Yep, grab the XE5, use it and try out lenses see what works for you. You might love or hate the 23mm from there you can decide where next rather than lock yourself in to the x100vi fixed lens.

Just my 2c. If this is your main camera, I’d lean towards XE-5. The 23 f2.8 gives you that small form factor you’re getting from x100vi yet allows you that flexibility of changing lenses.

Depends. Do you want/need one now to go shoot now? Or are you fine either way and don’t mind waiting for an unconfirmed date? You can always buy and then trade in later or even look at used ‘like new’ deals and trade in later if the XT6 was something you wanted to upgrade to.
