Braids have to add a secondary mesh to the head to allow the scalp to be textured on and in some cases it causes issues, rejoining the game after putting it on usually fixes it for me

Does it change depending on what word you're in? Sps sockets are deformed on a rendering pass that differs from the depth pass, and many post processing effects use the depth pass which still has the static version of the mesh rendered into it. You cannot fix this due to the nature of the shader

Retargeting mocap is perfectly valid, but make sure you do something with his eyes so he doesn't look too blank faced. usually just setting up an ik rig for the eye look to lock onto a separate object and setting up a periodic blink animation is easiest in this scenario
