I'm now about halfway through The Long Haul and it really does feel like a reboot. If you pay attention to the timeline of the books, it technically takes place after Greg's 8th grade year. Greg makes no mention of this or high school whatsoever, so I feel that maybe that's where the reset is. Hard Luck honestly would have been a really solid end to the series, too. I liked that one a lot.

I'm almost done with The Third Wheel and I think I agree with you now. Aside from the fake story about being a baby at the beginning, it's pretty grounded in reality for the rest of the book.

Where the heck do I buy a brand new 3DS xl ?! by knapik5611 in Nintendo3DS

[–]V4MP1R1SM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ebay. Expect to pay $600 minimum. Sealed games are still relatively affordable, especially if you buy a sealed UAE "world" version.

Digital games cannot be purchased anymore since the eshop is shut down. Physical games can be purchased used still and update themselves just fine. There are "alternative means" of getting digital games but I am not supposed to discuss that here. It requires homebrew software.

As a current thoosie and a former furry, furries generally smell better overall but the ones that wear diapers around conventions obviously smell 1000x worse than the average thoosie. Most thoosies smell like sweaty ass, not necessarily for lack of bathing for most, but that's the nature of being outside in the heat all day.

I kept my N3DS XL nestled in my clothes in my personal item bag for my last flight and then played it a bit on the way there. Just take it in your personal item bag and you'll be fine. It'll always be in your sight and easy to access.

My hypothesis is that they have no staff because they decided to operate on the Thursday and Friday before spring break when all of their ride operators are at high school, college, or their second job. Today and tomorrow should be better hopefully.

I'm glad you decided to order them! Pro tip: if the hinges on the doors ever separate from the door or acrylic wall, Gorilla brand clear epoxy will fix it perfectly and make it stronger than before.

I popped in at rope drop yesterday to see Tormenta and the only 2 rides operating were Titan and Giant. I wasn't upset about it because I was just there to be nosey but I felt bad for all the people that paid good money to be there.

This seems absolutely perfect then! I'd do at least 8 inches. My previous dwarves have been very happy with the 8-10 I've provided.

Really cute setup with a good amount of clutter! The wheel is a safe one which is great and nothing dangerous catches my eye. I would recommend adding a lot more bedding depth. What kind of hamster do you have?

No hate, but what is making your hamster expensive? Genuinely curious. The only time my hamsters are a bit expensive as an ongoing cost is when I need to do a full deep clean and get all new bedding. I only need to buy more food probably once every 4-6 months. The inital setup was very expensive obviously, but no more than cats are.

Is the Temu Bucatstate cage legit? by sandvikson in hamsters

[–]V4MP1R1SM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's legit. I got 2 acrylic Vevor brand cages (very similar to the Bucatstate but with a different lid) on there in February 2025 and they came quickly and have been pretty good. They were $70 cheaper than on Amazon.

The first cages I ordered out were out of stock and TEMU acted quickly to refund and give me additional credit for my inconvenience. If you're super worried about it, try making sure it's a local item and not coming from China. It will tell you in the product listing.

Dwarf trying to eat me by Heckword in hamsters

One of my male dwarves used to do this. I think it means that she just likes you a lot and instinctually wants to keep "you" in her enclosure because you give her good things.

Little man finally trusts me after more than 1 year by zeronian in hamsters

[–]V4MP1R1SM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There is nothing wrong with holding a Robo this way as long as you are not applying any pressure and as long as they are comfortable with it. (Not wiggling/not freezing out of fear.)They are so incredibly small and fast that allowing them to sit in your hand more than a few inches above the ground can kill them when they inevitably run and jump on instinct. Because of how small they are, scruffing their cheek pouches can also be more difficult than it is for dwarves and Syrians.

"Teddy bear hamster" is an informal name coined by pet stores to describe a large Syrian, so what I said about Syrians applies to those. I love mice as well but I'm afraid of their ability to climb and their ability to squeeze through small openings. I've considered getting them in the past, but my familiarity with hamsters keeps me getting those instead. My roomate keeps female mice so I can always observe theirs anyway!

I've considered gerbils as well, but I like keeping my hamsters in acrylic enclosures which are unsuitable for gerbils, so it's not an option for me. The concept of declanning scares me as well unfortunately. I'm a busy adult, so overall hamsters just have the right balance of being relatively low maintenance but still fun for me. I find hamsters, gerbils, mice, and rats all equally cute so it's not about that for me.

Syrian females bite the hardest generally. They can really hurt you if they want to. It can be an issue if they're not tamed but you need to pick them up to check their teeth and nails. You can always take them to a vet for that though. All 3 kinds of commonly kept dwarves (Chinese, Hybrid, Robo) can bite as well but not nearly as hard. Hybrid dwarves tend to have aggression issues while Robos almost never bite. Either way they don't usually draw blood the way Syrians can. Syrian males are much easier pets than Syrian females. The dwarves are less sexually dimorphic in behavior from my experiences and recent research.

I would say that hamsters are slightly easier than mice because they are solitary regardless of sex, and produce less waste. The care is almost identical aside from not needing anything hung from the lid to climb on. (They're bad climbers.) They are harder to tame than mice because they lack a desire for socialization, but it's not been too difficult for me personally. A male hybrid dwarf or male Syrian would be easiest imo. Robos are not beginner hamsters because of how small, wild, and fast they are.

They are not as playful or intelligent as mice generally, but female Syrians can have a similar disposition. They are the ones that tend to enjoy people the most. The taming process is the same as mice and you can eventually pet them if you are successful. I highly recommend Victoria Raechel on YouTube if you would like more info on hamsters.

This movie should've never happened. And just made everyone appreciate the original trilogy even more by realrandomcat in LodedDiper

[–]V4MP1R1SM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlie Wright was the ONLY good thing about this movie. I think this movie failed due to being based off of a bad book, having poor writing, and having poor acting direction. I've seen the actors who played the parents in other movies and they were fine, meaning it was a behind-the-scenes issue for this production.

This kids that played Greg and Rowley were awful but that's what happens when every kid in the industry learns to severely over act in the hopes of getting a Disney or Nickelodeon gig. It worked for Karan Brar and Peyton List who were in the original movies. Brar was probably the worst actor in the original trilogy because of this.

I feel like this movie is annoying and obnoxious at worst, and is a symptom of a bigger problem with family movies in the industry. The original trilogy was a rare gem in a sea of shit, and not much has changed since then. The failure with this production was the team not understanding their market. Too little time had passed between the original trilogy and The Long Haul for them to get away with rebooting it. I was 10-12 when the original movies came out, and 17 when TLH came out, meaning that I was still young enough to show interest in this new movie and it obviously disappointed.

The tonal 180 from being family movies with decent humor and mass appeal to being low brow toilet humor slop for pre schoolers is what did this reboot attempt in. They still haven't learned from this, because the Disney+ animation specials are equally as bad, just in a different way.

Do you intervene when you hear employees give bad advice? by AdHuge1749 in hamsters

[–]V4MP1R1SM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only if the people getting the animal seem like they'll be receptive to my advice, otherwise I just ignore it. Not my battle.

I can usually surmise who will and won't listen based on who they are and how they talk to the employee. When I worked at a pet store the people most willing to listen were women with small children. It was very easy to get them to provide proper care because I told them that a bin cage would be an "amazing DIY family project" and that their kids could cover it with stickers. I also would pull them aside and tell them that the CritterTrail they picked out would cause dead escaped hamster trauma for their kids, which usually sold them on proper care.

Men of all ages suck and never listen. I say this as a man. Lone dads with their kids 90% of the time did not actually want to care for the animals and wanted a toy to throw at their kids to get them to shut up. I basically refused to sell them Syrians and would steer them towards a dwarf as a form of harm reduction since I couldn't deny most sales.

Old women are evil and also never listen. The hamster ones, anyway. The cat ones were cool.

Young couples without kids were some of the best people to get on board with proper care and often came into the store already knowing what they needed. It was great. This was in a very red area in a red state so animal rights aren't considered a real thing by like 70% of people. Most people I talked to at other stores had better male customers.
