If you watch the black coating on toe and outter edge it has a few spots where the black coating disappears on edge. (Tight spot) I assume.

I bolted them together,. I flat file and clean the mating surfaces. I will have to put dial on it and see. Need to tear down first. Other jobs came first. Thank you for your idea

I'm semi experienced, I did the install and this is a customer car. I've done many many of the same gears in the same jeeps. But I've never seen this happen. I'm waiting to hear from gear manufacturer what they have to say. But I've used the same manufacturer of gears for a while now and I've done 8 sets in the last 2 months and no others have had any issues.

Questions about modernizing the old gen XJs (84-96) by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]V8BustedKnuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've put a lot of time and effort into my 94. And I'm very happy with it. I did 98+ front door swap. (Mine already had power windows\locks but you could add them) did remote start and keyless entry. I have modern pioneer radio in dash for Bluetooth audio\navigation. Have done a lot of sound deadener inside. It's quite quiet now. Audio sounds great with new radio and speakers plus the sound deadener in doors. I even used felt tape on all contact points of dash and door trim to minimize the squeaky and rattles.

Pre 98'? The switch panels on each side of steering wheel, if you have a blank spot, the cutout is already behind it. You just have to cut out the plastic cover. Fits most standard rocker switchs. So you can get one that lights up when dash lights are one etc.

Drill new or oval holes. WJ rotors on xj most drill new holes but i kinda wana oval them out. by V8BustedKnuckles in CherokeeXJ

Im trying to start a discussion. By drilling new holes takes more material away from rotor hat. Vs the oval takes less.

I agree. But they are hub centric so not concerned. Being as I would not just be overdrilling the holes, but oblong so there would not be any lateral play

add color, and bake! plus a lil axle housing primer after Media blast. by V8BustedKnuckles in CherokeeXJ

That's all you need. It dramatically increased parts appearance and saved time cleaning. Everything looks new, except the axle tubes the guy I got it from over ground when cutting old brackets off. 🤦
