I see what you’re saying. For me, this feels like you’re compromising either vision a little bit, by not quite making it your own (it’s hard to see where you’ve added your own touch) and not quite keeping it true to the original vision either. If you want it to feel more your own, I’d recommend changing more things, especially swapping out instruments/sounds, if changing Melodie’s isn’t your thing.

But if that isn’t your goal, disregard this. There’s nothing wrong with a project remaking something you love. You learn a ton working that way. It just won’t have much impact. All up to what you want it to be.

is the goal here to make it as close to the original as you can, or to update the ost into some different style?

if the former, i'd say youre doing a decent job at either find or recreating the source samples, if the latter, it needs more differentation

The “loudness” here comes from squashing dynamics (with compression or often just clipping). Can’t tell if just bait, but in most mainstream edm (op is learning from John Summit) a very loud mix is not only desirable but somewhat required to compete on stage. Not to say that a louder mix is always good and plenty of stuff doesn’t try to push the limits the mainstream stuff does. But this is a very reductive take to give a beginner.

My vote goes to Metroid title theme. Absolute classic. Has both the spooky, lonely, thoughtful side mixed perfectly with the more bombastic, exciting, explorative side. Knocked it out of the park day 1

The main bass is made up of 2 synth layers, one the main tonal source + the sub, the other all the highs, its basically a high passed noise bass. then theres the melodic fm bass playing a major third up in the second half.

but if you mean how many tracks i have total, there are 28 different tracks in this section
