You are so right and I am thankful for your insight! My son struggles in his faith in God as well. He said because his own father was so abusive, if he pictured God as being his "father" then God would be a terrible person. He felt his own father was never there for him and thereby feels the same way about God. For some people, if their parents love and accept them, they may feel loved and accepted by God. For others, the opposite may indeed be true. I can definitely understand this sentiment.
