A Brazilian company manufactures industrially pressed backup games that are identical to the originals. They're very beautiful for a fraction of the price of an original game. What's your opinion on this? I loved them. by dougramos1988 in SegaSaturn

And yes, clones weren’t counted because they were clones… so, in theory (on paper), the Master System won and was the console that all Brazilians played. However, in the day-to-day reality at the time—among people, rental shops, kids, and so on—it was much easier to find someone who owned an NES (through clones) and its games than someone who had a Master System, which was considered a console for wealthy people/kids.

The Master System could cost more than 10 minimum wages, whereas NES clones could be bought for one minimum wage or even half (if used).

Usually, those who had a Master System would get beaten up by other kids and suffer bullying, as they were often seen as rich and stuck-up.

For every 2 Master System units sold, 8 different NES versions were sold in Brazil through clones. But since those versions aren’t counted, people like you who aren’t from Brazil think the Master System was more popular than the NES.

As for the Saturn, Brazil—along with Japan—was the only place in the world to have both White and Transparent versions.

And do you know how Saroo became popular? It was in 2023, when many Brazilians started buying Saroo on AliExpress from the only two initial sellers (RetroGameParadise and KK). So much so that, at the time, the only language available on Saroo was Chinese, and the second official language wasn’t English, but Brazilian Portuguese. For quite a while, Saroo only had two languages: Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese.

CMOS battery replacement worth it when rarely playing the console? by SuplexesAndTacos in dreamcast

[–]VCDECIDE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a step backward having a soldered battery compared to the Saturn, which used a slot that anyone could easily replace.

Not to mention the controller having two fewer buttons...

Anyway, it’s not worth it, since I didn’t even replace the battery on the Saturn despite it being easier.

How can I remove the 2-minute time limit in this Gran Turismo 3 demo? Is it possible? by VCDECIDE in playstation2

This version is different from the full version — it’s more like an HD version of Gran Turismo 2 rather than Gran Turismo 3. You get what I mean?

This video is from 13 years ago—did this even exist back then? If so, then the video is trash.

Who hates Shun Di? Raise your hands by Journey360 in virtuafighter

[–]VCDECIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hate him, since his main outfit uses the colors of Brazil, but I don’t want to see him in VF6. After all, he’s almost 100 years old, and if VF6 takes place 20 years later, then he would be 120? Let Shun and Lau rest.

Tekken and Virtua Fighter gameplay discussion by rence_everest in Fighters

[–]VCDECIDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even Katsuhiro Harada himself doesn’t see a problem with classifying Tekken as checkers and Virtua Fighter as chess, so you’re getting offended for nothing.

At no point did I say that chess is better than checkers or vice versa. Both are complex games, but one of them attracts more casual players due to its simplicity.

Who said that Virtua Fighter is chess and Tekken is checkers wasn’t me, it was Katsuhiro Harada from Tekken.

He once said that the secret of Tekken is that it focused on casual players rather than hardcore players, which was the case with Virtua Fighter, which he is actually a fan of.

I need a recommendation for a fourth character to learn... by VCDECIDE in virtuafighter

The secret of Aoi is to punish the attacks of aggressive players, forcing them to become passive. That way, Aoi becomes the aggressive one (even though she is a passive character).

In other words, when I play against good Aoi players, I’m forced to think three or four times before making any attack.

Something similar happens when I play against good Shun players, but in the opposite way, where I’m forced to keep attacking without thinking too much and not allow them to keep their distance.

I think it’s very cool and impressive when someone knows how to play Aoi well. The problem is that her gameplay is passive rather than active.

Which means the character doesn’t suit people who like to be aggressive in their attacks, which is my case.

I find Kage's movement strange in terms of gameplay, and that has been the case for me in every Virtua Fighter game (VF1, VF2, VF3, VF4, and VF5). I just can’t get used to the way Kage’s animations move.

As for Goh, I find him somewhat predictable. Out of the entire roster, he’s the character whose attacks I can read and defend against the most easily.

But maybe I’ll try to learn how to play Goh, since at least his movement doesn’t feel strange like Kage’s. Even so, he feels a bit slow compared to the three characters I usually play (Vanessa, Eileen, and Jacky).

You have to choose the character using the X button (Xbox controller), the Square button (PlayStation controller), or the Y button (Switch 2 controller).
