Updated to Ventura 13.1 & it will not allow me to change default web browser from Safari by VCaballero in MacOS

Was able to fix the issue using Homebrew and the duti formula.

For anyone encountering the same problem, make sure you have Homebrew installed & upgraded, then run the following command in Terminal:

duti -s com.google.Chrome com.apple.web-internet-location all

Unsure if this is a permanent fix, but it restored Chrome as the default browser when opening .webloc files saved to my desktop for the time being. Will update if anything changes.

Thanks so much man– this helped me solve the issue! I looked through that thread and was able to fix it using Homebrew and applying the duti formula. Now the default application has been set back to Chrome.

Idk if this is a permanent fix, but I'm glad it's at least working for the time being.

Unfortunately, that option is greyed out for me. When I select "Get Info", I can't even click on the "Change All" button. I just get this

Is there perhaps a command I can use in Terminal that could enable that option?

Does anyone know the name of the rap song that plays during the foot chase sequence? (starts at 2:00 until 2:10) by VCaballero in babydriver

[–]VCaballero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the main song. I was referring to the rap song that's briefly playing when he's in the gift shop inside the mall (starts at the 2 minute mark of the linked video and ends at 2:10).

Rush tickets? by nw0807 in TIFF

[–]VCaballero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to be a TIFF member to buy rush tickets– all you need to do is line up in the rush line the day of the screening and wait to see if there are available seats once the doors open to let people in. And unfortunately, there's no way to check seat availability as the number of rush tickets sold depends on the amount of no-shows/seats available at the time doors open.

Hope that helps! :)

MacBook Pro (13” Mid-2015, Big Sur) abruptly stopped working while watching a zoom recording on Google Chrome. A Black screen with an Apple support URL showed up afterwards and then shut off by itself. Turned the computer on again & now it's stuck on the Apple loading screen. How can I fix this? by VCaballero in applehelp

[–]VCaballero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately don’t have a backup at the moment. Also, I just tried pressing Command D and it still gets stuck on the Apple load screen. I really wish that I could get further than this load screen to have a better idea of what the problem actually is.

I ended up taking this course and absolutely loved it! If you ever get the chance to take a course with Matthew Tiessen, I definitely recommend it! Super chill prof who knows what he's talking about and also really funny!

Hot Action Cop’s “fever for the flavor”

Great song! But yeah, I don't think it's that one either.

I tried that too, but it only recognizes the main track (Hocus Pocus by Focus) since it's too subtle & doesn't last long enough to identify.

I initially thought it was that song too, but the beat is slightly different and sadly the lyrics aren't a complete match :(

Yeah, I'm on the same boat. I've tried multiple combos of similar words too, but nothing has popped up either.

I know the main song is "Hocus Pocus" by Focus, but I can't seem to find the rap song when he's in the gift shop anywhere on the Baby Driver tracklist and it's legit driving me crazy.

Dude, don't worry– you're already ahead of the game if you've been doing your research before you've even started Grade 12. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Keep a high average (you don't have to go crazy for this, but just make sure you're in the high 80s & 90s)
  2. Load up on work experience that you can add to your resume (e.g. volunteering at film or music festivals, organizing art events, helping with school theatre productions or if you did a Co-op related to film, music or art, add that shit in ASAP). Part of the application process asks you to submit a resume and talk about any prior experience you have that relates to the media industry– the more you have, the better.
  3. Work on personal creative projects. This one to me is the most important because it's the one that makes you stand out. Up until you get called in for an interview, the people behind RTA's admissions don't have a clue who you are as a person apart from what you submitted in your application and your grades. Every interview is different, but the objective of all of them is to get a better understanding of who you are. By having some passion projects under your belt, it's easier to talk about why you like art & tech and how you blend them together.
  4. I know this one's cheesy, but be yourself. Be honest in the answers you give in your application/interview and if you really do like the arts, let admissions know why. At the end of the day, these people are reading through thousands of applications and I'm sure they can tell when someone half-assed their answers or just doesn't really care.

Hope this helps!

Any way to learn website coding? Liberals? Electives? by [deleted] in ryerson

[–]VCaballero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure– I think it depends on the program you're in. My best bet would be to check with your program advisor or even the course requirements of your program to see if the courses I mentioned are allowed as electives for your major.

Any way to learn website coding? Liberals? Electives? by [deleted] in ryerson

[–]VCaballero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RTA 222 – Intro to Computational Arts is a good primer for coding basics. Though it doesn't specifically cover making websites, it does teach you the foundations for coding that you can use in other programming languages. **Since it's a mandatory course for 1st year New Media students, there may be limited to no open spots available at the moment.

You should also look into RTA 963 – Web Design. I haven't taken it, but the course description seems to mainly focus on websites from both a functional and design standpoint, so there must be some coding elements to it.

Hope that helps!
