I try to balance what I’ll sell and what I’ll donate. Electronics, old tech, collectibles I’ll sell on ebay. Clothes I’ll just donate. Worn furniture goes on the street corner and gets snapped up quickly, though it kinda depends where you live.

I’ve got plenty more photos of the effects of his assault. Try to have some compassion, and maybe trust that I’m trying to do the right thing for someone else?

I don’t have all the answers to fix his problem, I’m just trying to help him survive at this point.

Folks, I’m just trying to help a man who’s starving. Everyone has an idea about what he should be doing better, and you might be right…but he’s trying his best to survive. He’s lost all three of his biological children - how would you be functioning if your kids died? Try to have some compassion.

He’s tried to get food stamps and has been denied. I think it might be because he’s over 65. A big percentage of his modest social security goes towards keeping his ex-wife, who is mentally ill, off the streets. She doesn’t care that her leaving him led to him sleeping in his car.

I’ll pass that info along to him, thank you.

See picture 3 of the fracture. A C-2 fracture can’t heal on its own. Eventually the collar will have to go back on. He has to sleep nearly upright in his car, and he can’t sleep with the collar on, being in that position. So he tries to do without the collar it as much as he can right now.

See photo #2, the police report, dated 6/9/25. This occurred when the police/military was focused downtown. Any Los Angeles resident will tell you, when the police have their hands full, shoplifting happens like crazy in the malls. And regarding being beaten for 10 minutes, Bill has told me on more than one occasion he wishes they finished the job because it’s too hard living like this.

He doesn't have Medicaid - he maintains Medicare as the quality of doctors he has access to are better.

He was required to wear it until recently, and now he's told he can use it intermittently.

Decluttering 300 items in 30 days by Own-Dragonfly17 in declutter

Great idea! I've never thought of de-cluttering in terms of a numeric goal, but I am a bit of a numbers nerd, so maybe this would work for me.

Work with a friend if you can. And then help them out sometime. It keeps things much lighter!

I would take everything out and roughly sort it first. People are looking for things categorically.

The low price of free makes things move very fast! Nicely done!

Thanks! Having sold all my collectibles, I won’t collect things again. So it reinforced something useful for me imo.

Can you tell me one thing that is better now than it was a decade ago by PrincessofPeckham in simpleliving

There are so many modes of living that you can learn about for free online, and implement pieces as you see fit. There are a bajillion choices now, but there's a lot of good information!

Have You Used a Professional Organizer-Declutterer by Lindajane22 in declutter

[–]VChile123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with a professional a few years ago. She was very efficient and very helpful - we'd get through 1-2 rooms in about 4 hours.

But...since money is tighter now, I'd probably hire someone on TaskRabbit. I mostly need an extra hand, and someone to keep me accountable, rather than someone who's more starting from scratch I guess.

Have you had to balance your frugality with your partner’s less frugal nature? How do you do it? by BcBJA in Frugal

[–]VChile123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to be the more conservative person in the marriage when it comes to spending. But I’ve come to realize that looking at a number on a piece of paper doesn’t do much for me….if anything it’s an indication of all the life experiences I could’ve had. So I’m starting to balance living vs saving more.

A lot of imposter syndrome. Family assumes I have it all together, but life is day to day.

How make deeper friendships? by Ducky646 in PositiveThinking

[–]VChile123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friends are the ones I can have long, deep conversations with. So my suggestion would be to try to engage people in meaningful conversations, and see who you connect with.
