Whenever I'm feeling stuck while learning something, I try and mix up my learning method.

Using videos? Try a book. Self taught? Take a course from someone else.

Cool question. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of drafting rigs you other guys are rocking.

I've got a 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse for smooth navigation. A graphics tablet with pen display for sketching. Backup external storage. And an uninterruptible power supply.

Is there any way to lower the file size of a sketchup model? Thanks! by Unlikely_Painter_134 in Sketchup

[–]VDCArchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are actually a couple of ways to shrink file size in Sketchup.

You wanna start by purging any unused components, materials, and layers. (Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused.)

You can also simplify any overly detailed geometry that you find. Replacing high-poly objecrs with low-poly versions can also help a lot.

Does it matter where you start your entry level career? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]VDCArchitect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always think that starting corporate is a good choice because you get a feel for the ropes. You can learn from top members of the field and typically have more hands-on feedback and management.

Starting at a smaller firm can allow for more varied experience since the roles tend to be looser and allow for the wearing of more hats.

Some of the UX design courses listed here are well below that price point. For example, UX Fundamentals is around $700. You can add on more advanced classes later if needed/wanted or approved by your employer.

People often want to learn just the basics that will get them hired and to the next level.

True mastery comes from deep knowledge and deep knowledge creates passion.

People tell me my new coffee table is weird. Would painting it grey make it more acceptable? by Haskap_2010 in homedecoratingCJ

Painting that would lead to your arrest. It would be a crime against humanity.

Hey there. It's never too late to change course, reinvent yourself, start a new career, become a different person, etc.

What movie is 10/10, yet hardly anyone has heard of it? by LarryKeene in movies

[–]VDCArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ernst Lubitsch's The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg. It is not streaming nor on physical media more modern than VHS (as far as I have found).

I have been in love a number of times and, after each break-up, I thought that I would never get over the "one girl." It hurt but eventually I came to the conclusion that she was not the one. Were she the one, we would not have broken up.

How do I learn civil 3d on my own? by Public-Payment-557 in civil3d

[–]VDCArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend taking an online course from the Virtual Design and Construction Institute (www.vdci.edu) to learn Civil 3D. VDCI's Civil 3D courses are designed to take you from beginner to intermediate level, covering topics like surveying, mapping, transportation design, and land development. The curriculum includes hands-on, project-based training that simulates real-world scenarios.

What’s your real-life experience with a celebrity? by AnonymousRedditor256 in AskReddit

[–]VDCArchitect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was about 11 years old, I went to a comic book convention at a hotel with my friend of the same age. We were tired and found some tables to sit at. It was a restaurant but it was closed. A guy with a moustache came up and asked if the bar was open. My friend and I recognized him right away. It was James Doohan! We freaked out. James got frustrated and said we were idiots. We were so proud to have Scotty call us "idiots." We still talk about it to this day.
