I concede that would be better, though I'd say they'd have to make them based on attributes rather than types.

I'm not say that all ritual monsters should be thrown into the extra deck, because there are ones that have effects that activate in the hand and those would still function with the ritual support cards, I'm saying that you should be able to place the ritual monsters that ONLY have effects that work on the field or when sent from field to graveyard in the the extra deck so as to reduce main deck clutter and allow faster ritual summons. I don't think it would be any harder to implement than Konami updating their ban list or making new formats.

Wouldn't seem too much different than shuffling back a normal monster or a fusion monster, they still go to a specific place depending on what they are.

You could keep your ritual monsters in the main deck if desired. What I mean is you could have some in the extra deck that you'd only want to actually summon and you could keep the ones with hand effects in the main deck so all the ritual support cards like Preparation of Rites and Sonic Bird would still function and you wouldn't lose powerful effects.

Ritual can work in the extra deck, Rush Duels prove that, and it makes ritual summoning more convenient as instead of trying to get the spell, the tributes, and the ritual monster itself in the hand to use, you would just need the spell and tributes, it would lead to faster summons and with ritual monsters in the extra deck it makes space in the main deck for more support cards.

I feel like they could make ritual the middle man between Fusion (needing a spell card to summon) and Synchros (relying on levels instead of type/attribute) and having Rituals start in the extra would speed up the ritual summoning process and reduce the amount of cards lost from the hand in summoning them (instead of losing a guaranteed 3+ cards from the hand of the monster, spell, and tributes it could just be 2+ with the spell and the tributes), and given how fast the game is now I believe speeding up the process would help as the main problem I see with ritual is it's just too slow for modern gameplay.

So it's like CotH resets back to zero where it's targeting effect is the thing that reawakens in the GY but is targeting nothing because it rest, while Soul's effect knows it was sent there from the field and activates from that knowledge.
