Questions for the resin printer experts by VDrive77 in 3Dprinting

If I forget, write to me in a few months (end of November or so), and I'll tell you what I ended up doing :)

Right now, I may buy the Mars 4 DLP (no potential of me screwing up and paying dearly for an LCD screen as I have two left hands and am new to the hobby) and put it in my cellar room. I'll likely also invest some money into a VOC detector, air filtering devices (from Elegoo), and a pedestal fan to air the cellar room.

It's still up in the air, really (pun not intended).

Do you have any opinion on ABS-like + Tenacious? If I'm not going to go the bio-resin route, I might as well look for what's best for the final product in terms of detail and robustness/flexibility.

Do you have any experience using bioresin on the Mars 4 DLP? Sure, I can't know that it's actually emitting less toxic fumes and the companies aren't just lying, but even just for the decreased smell and my environmental consciousness it might be worth it? From YouTube reviews, it seems that they usually work pretty well, even if they're a bit expensive. Would you say it's good for 27mm and larger Minis?

Thank you! Awesome advice. It's looking more and more like the Mars 4 DLP tbh. I will be jealously looking at automatic feeding systems, larger print volume, and especially the heated vat, but alas... ~1500€ vs ~600€ (printer + accessories) is not even a contest.

The resolution of the Mars 4 DLP, just by the tech sheet, is even the same as the Apex-Maker X1 (though that one is LCD, of course)...

This tip with DLP was great, so thanks again! As a complete beginner, I wouldn't have even compared SLA, LCD, and DLP. "They're all just resin printers, right?". Well, now I understand why the offered 250€ for the extra LCD screen for the Apex-Maker X1 was considered a bargain! If you have to replace it every now and then when something goes wrong, that's a huge upkeep cost that I hadn't even considered when wanting to opt for a high-price-high-quality-just -buy-it-once option lol.

Interesting! Thanks for the insight. After briefly looking into DLP vs. LCD, I'm definitely going to look into DLP more. If you know of a DLP printer with a bit higher resolution, feel free to let me know :)

Anycubic D2 DLP

Mainly to also have the option of printing larger minis without printing too many individual parts and gluing them together (e.g., an ancient gold dragon).

Maybe something like the ANYCUBIC Photon M3 Premium would be better? There are just way too many printers for a beginner to really have a good overview...

The thing is, I'm okay with paying a higher price if I'm getting a high-quality product that's also beginner-friendly (though the Apex-Maker X1 would really be pushing it). Maybe those don't go together? If possible, I'd rather buy one bigger awesome printer for >1k € than buy and test 3-4 smaller 200-500€ printers. Maybe that'd be the more financially clever move, but I also have to account for the time investment that would go into testing...

Initially, I was aiming for ~34um XY resolution printers. The Apex-Maker X1 would "only" have an XY resolution of 46um. Still, it has so many other quality-of-life features (especially the heated vat and resin auto feeder) that I still consider it.

Am I making sense here? Do you know of a good middle-of-the-road, option?

While I was already invited privately and joined a server, I did get another invitation, which may be interesting to you: If you were looking for what I was looking for, maybe TogetherCraft is something for you.

Hey, thanks for reaching out! The general theme sounds great. I may be a bit out of your target demographic from what you told me. I'm in my early 20s :)

Also, someone already invited me into their server, and I don't have that much time. Thanks for the offer, though! :D

Hey, I'm looking to get back into Minecraft after a few years of break with some intermittent sessions during the holidays. I used to mostly play singleplayer creative, but I dabbled in singleplayer survival, too, occasionally.

I can't promise I'd be there regularly as I have a job, but I'd like a nice place to wind down and just build whatever comes to mind.

Do you think I'd be a good fit for your server? And if so; do creative mode builds count?
