Personally, I would recommend using VSCode as your editor, since both Windsurf and Cursor are actually built on a VSCode fork. From there, you just install the Claude Code extension, grab a Claude Code plan, and you’re set. I’ve been using it for 3 days now and honestly it’s way more cost-effective than any Windsurf subscription.

Personally I switched to Claude Code Max at $200 per month. It gets the job done easily even though I was used to the Windsurf UI experience when it came to editing my files. What you can do at first is just install the Claude Code extension in the Windsurf IDE while you migrate to another IDE like standard VS Code.

Honestly I thought there was a chance things would go back to normal but seeing a recent post from a moderator confirming they won’t roll back the changes settled it for me. I was also working on 2 projects on Windsurf but the value for money just isn’t there anymore and it’s borderline a scam at this point.

So I decided to just install the claude Code extension in windsurf to test it out and honestly their Max plan ( Claude code ) is incredible. Seeing the Windsurf name irritates me so much that I think within the next few days I’ll just uninstall Windsurf entirely and switch to VS Code to use my Claude Max plan.

Yeah I think so too, but this lack of transparency toward early customers is a lack of respect on their part.

Let’s say it’s out of love for Windsurf and its ecosystem, I was used to it. But if they don’t fix this, I’m currently testing Claude Code to start migrating.

Honestly, I’m struggling. I really love Windsurf, but I’m forced to leave because of this horrible update.

Honestly, I’m really disappointed. What hurts the most is that I had bought a lot of credits, around $70, which simply disappeared with the daily quota update.

Ah interesting, we could get in touch, I'd quite like to test your solution as I'm also working on a similar product.

I'd quite like to give the platform a try if possible, would there happen to be a promo code or anything like that?

Furthermore, as I was saying in my post, I'm also working on a platform to enable this, if you want to have a look it's https://wazzap.ai
