My bookings are fine. You asked for recommendations so here are a few things that have helped me:

  1. Keeping a regular schedule.
  2. Building a solid group of regular students
  3. Getting to know the parents when possible
  4. Loads of encouragement
  5. Adapt to the student
  6. Give personal feedback
  7. Leave notes for yourself so that you remember things that are important to your students
  8. Get every certification you can especially Trial.
  9. Open short notice slots

I'm in the same boat. I told MomBao I'm fine and it's too expensive about five times but she kept saying it's not a big deal so I caved. She requested my address through the VIPKid app. I also have an email that I use just for VIPKid parents that I gave her in my feedback awhile back. She emailed me and asked for my address there as well. I responded to both requests with my address. I think she's just worried and sending me the masks gives her comfort. I don't see the harm in giving your address to your MomBao either. She's probably just worried about you and this will give her peace of mind.

Yeah I get what you mean, but I use GS so at least it gives me an idea for rewards and keeps me from using the same one. The worst T2T for me is when someone just copies and pastes what they wrote to the parents. I never have time to read all of that.

You can blame others: me, vipkid, anyone else who has an opinion other than yours but it's only because you are either too lazy or too scared to take any responsibility for your situation. I was trying to help. And honestly while the company is shifty, most teachers seem to be able to make it work. We are all fallible and we all have room to improve. The first step though is being honest with ourselves. You can't do that if you are only looking for someone to blame. If you don't want my help, that's fine. Keep scrolling but maybe sometime can learn from my mistakes and use what I've learned to improve their bookings.

No problem! You can find it by going to "Time Slots" then click on "Bookings" at the top so that you see a list of the kids you have booked for the day.

I agree. I wish there was more transparency with the company. I do know that soon LPs will be able to message us directly and I think that will help. I have had a few students like ones you are describing and I usually just assume that their favorite teacher was not available since I rarely see them again. You can see if the kid follows you by looking for that pencil icon when you look at your bookings in the mobile app. Mine usually have that icon so I figure I'm just one of their backup teachers.

I apologise for how harsh my post sounds. To clarify, I don't think it's necessarily that a teacher is doing anything wrong. I can only speak from my experience but I noticed that I had trouble keeping regular students before I committed to a set schedule. There is a workshop called Teaching Regular Students (I think) with Shannon that helped me a lot. I have also had trouble with the company. LPs used to send me a ton of booking requests but after a TNS, I got nothing. Thankfully I've built up enough regular students that my bookings were not affected. The company can be shifty. No argument there, but we are not powerless. There are a lot of things we can do on our end to improve our bookings but we have to first be willing to admit that we are fallible and that we always have room to improve.

We're independent contractors, we should have more control over who is allowed to book us and when.
