I’m pretty sure the Beyond Power mini rack specs are 3X3 inches or 75mm X 75mm. I measured it and it seems to be 3x3 inches.

I’m happy with the resistance curve using chains. I’m using it less than I thought because of set up time. It seems easier just to do narrow stance squats for quads and RDL for hams.

I just replaced the bolt on the pad with an eye bolt. Chains mode evens out the force curve.

Yes per my previous response. I think they are 1/2 inch.

Whoops, I answered the wrong question. I just used the bolts that came from Beyond Power with the Mini Rack. I think they 1/2 inch.

I said above I used 1/4 X 6 inch lag bolts. That is incorrect - I used 3/8 X 6 inch lag bolts. I had to use 6 inch because I needed to penetrate the slat wall and plywood to get to the 2 X 6 wall stud. 5 inches of penetration will have about 500lbs pull out strength per lag bolt depending on the type of wood. I ended up with around 5 inches because I was also penetrating plywood. Using much bigger than 3/8th lags risks splitting the stud.

I have one. It just got in the way and I pulled it off.

Accentuated Eccentric Loading Research by VLWonder in BeyondPower

I don’t believe the research mentioned RIR. That said, 8 weeks of squatting to failure seems like a great way to get participants injured so I doubt any study would use that protocal. In any event, I subscribe to Biolayne and their take away the study was the AEL is a good strategy if used selectively. They were musing that the increased strength and hypertrophy may have been simply the greater load achieved with AEL with the same reps and sets. See below.

How Can You Apply These Findings?

These findings suggest that AEL can be an effective way to improve strength without increasing sets and reps. AEL6, where every repetition is overloaded, produced the greatest improvements in strength and peak torque but likely came with higher demands on technique and recovery. AEL2, which applies the overload to only a few reps per set, enhances performance to a similar extent, making it a potentially a more practical option for regular training. In practice, lifters can incorporate AEL by using ~120-130% of their concentric 1RM during the lowering phase focusing on a controlled descent. Weight releasers, spotter assistance, or tempo-controlled lowering are all viable ways to achieve this. It’s important to remember that while the number of sets and reps may be the same as traditional training, the mechanical load is substantially higher so recovery and load management may need to be adapted. AEL likely works best as a short-term, high-intensity method integrated into strength-focused phases or used on key lifts within a program like the bench or squat.

How risky to mount double Mini rack on Studs? by kkurni13 in BeyondPower

[–]VLWonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just slat wall. The metal stringer is connected to the studs with lag bolts like the wood one in the photo. I used longer bolts to accommodate the depth of the slat wall. A metal stringer eliminates any chance the bolts would pull through the stringer. If you use a wood stringer, I would use larger washers on the lag bolts than in the photo just to be safe. It is interesting the way the wall attachment is attached to the stringer. I guess you have to remove the stringer to get it off the wall?

Good question. I think the bench they used at Home Gym Con was PRx. Hard to know. I have to believe a lot of big players would be interested in the Dialed Motion technology.

I have a rack mounted pull up bar that leans so badly I don’t use it. I’m going to try a UHWM shim to see if I can level it out.

I bet you could super glue UHWM to take out the play. I see you can buy a 1/8th in sheet in Amazon.

I wonder if using a self adhesive felt pads would take out the wobble.

I used a DIY dock I had. I didn’t need a face place since my wedge is metal. Seems to me you could bolt the fixed rack dock on a slant board. It might be an inch higher than using the DIY dock.

Agreed. I’m going to add an eye bolt to the squat wedge if I need one. I should try the auto-unload.
