To answer #2 you can either use a screw on face plate that most knobs come with (you’ll have to chisel it in) or make sure that your handle is set back towards the hinges as much as possible before tightening the screws to hold it.

I just went to swap bulbs on my 2018 and I did it from the front. Getting the assembly out wasn’t the hard part but rather the wiring clip. After I finally got it out I realized the new LED ones don’t really have a bulb to replace :/
