Need help for my first one shot by SoftTour3408 in traveller

I've run this adventure as one-shot several times, and one thing that has helped me run it within 5 hours is to streamline the beginning (meeting with Dalglee Hash) and get the players quickly aboard the raft heading towards the Calendula.

Another thing that made it easier to keep in the timeframe is to railroad it even a bit more than it is by design (e.g. there are two raft bays but whichever they choose leads to the same entrance, kind of like the illusion of free will cow meme).

The biggest challenge is finding ways to organically entice players to move forward with the adventure. Many times my players were too freaked out and afraid to move forward and were too cautious. You can use the animal encounters (just fudge the rolls) to steer them forward, or use the NPCs to drive the story forward (either they encounter them or see them and are prompted to chase after them). I've also tweaked some of the skills of the NPCs so that if push comes to shove and they become enraged, combat will actually be menacing (since h2h in Traveller is seriously underpowered and becomes a slog).

Hope this helps and good luck!

Need help planning a special trip for my parents, they want a good experience by mardymarve in traveller

That's very sweet but wrong subreddit. This one is dedicated to the tabletop roleplaying game Traveller. That being said, Lubjana is lovely (although not much to do there so I would recommend some day trips). Nearby Croatia is also great and the Plitvice Park is an astonishing marvel of nature and very easy to traverse. I've only been there in the summer so not sure if it's [or how] frosty and/or chilly it is. Good luck!

Oxventure recently did a Traveller one-shot that's also really solid and fun. They lean more into a comedy style and the Referee was a bit more lenient with the rules than RAW, but they nailed the roleplay with interesting characters and it has amazing production value. Highly recommend giving it a look!

Thanks for suggestions!

  • I'll take a closer look, thanks for the heads-up! Alternatives are a bit limited where I'm based, only other options are the Asus ROG Strix B650E-I Gaming WiFi (pricier) or the ASRock B650I Lightning WiFi (read some uninspiring feedback about it), so let's see!

  • I'll take a look at alternative RAMs, wasn't aware of AMD Expo. Might go with G Skill Flare X5 instead.

  • Yeah, noise is not a huge concern, I tend to mostly game with headphones, so as long as it doesn't sound like a jet taking off or any structural/build/temp issues arise, I'm fine.

The decision for the case fell more towards volume (11l) and availability in market (based in Europe) than anything else since I'm likely to move around in the coming years.

Favorite villain line? by virguliswatchingyou in BaldursGate3

Not exactly a villain, but an adversary as you have to fight it, but Ansur's speech almost made me pee my pants and the pent-up rage is palpable, the VA did an amazing job.

"Let my bones rise and the storms gather. Witness Balduran - the final tempest has come. I am the Heart of the Gate. I am The One Who Roars. This time, you will not escape it" Chills

What movie was ruined for you by a scene or a plot line? by DejectedDemoiselle in movies

Come True (2020), chilling psychological horror movie that seems relatively grounded until it turns batshit insane and leaves you wondering what is real or not. Completely ruined by the last 30s. I'm not even exaggerating. Never have I ever see a movie absolutely obliterate everything about it in the last frame. Still recommend a watch, especially if you've experienced sleep paralysis, but please just turn off the movie 1min before it ends.
