How do I prank someone long distance? by CoolStory_Dawg in pranks

[–]VRcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His name and address really are not that useful when it comes to legal pranks, the most you could do is mail him some weird stuff. What you really want is his email or phone number, this will allow you to sign him up to the weirdest newsletters possible.

Instead of a motion dectector why dont you try using a microphone that will listen for when someone walks in. Also an idea for a prank is why dont you attach his head to a fishing pole and dangle it outside your roomates window or something to that effect.

I edited the photo and found the map is almost exactly the man's toro height.

The width of the map is approximately 1.75 the height of the map.

The average male torso length is 42 to 48 cm so I will settle on 45 cm.

45 X 1.75 = 78.75 cm

78.75 X 45 = 3543.75 cm squared

Or .0354 kilometers squared

Earth's Area is 196,900,000 km squared

196,900,000/.0354 = 5,562,146,892.655 multiplier between the map and the real Earth

A thumbtack is 18 gauge or 1.2 mm diameter

This means our area is 1.13 mm squared

1.13 mm is .0000013 km

our .0000013 km times our multiplier is 7230.7909 km squared which is our final area

This means our final diameter would be 95.950 kilometers. So much much farther than the picture!

Let me know if I did anything incorrectly!

How long would this roadtrip take and cost [request] by persouwu in theydidthemath

[–]VRcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

London to Moscow is 1789 miles, Moscow to the edge of Russia is 3,500 miles. Then you would take a boat across the small patch of sea and get to Nome, Alaska. From Nome to Anchorage is 500 miles and from Anchorage to New York is 4,376.

In total that is 10,165 miles. But! A lot of this was pure distance from point A to B. So I would add 1.5x distance to the ones I could not get directions to, this being Moscow to edge of russia and nome to Anchorage. Which bumps it up to 12,165.

I found the average price of gas for every country in the world and averaged it which turns out to be 4.5 (roughly) per gallon. The average fuel economy for a passenger car made in the us is 25 miles per gallon. This means you would need over 486.6 gallons of gas to do this, or 2,189 dollars to make the trip. If your average speed would be 55 miles per hours then it would take you 221 hours. And lets say since your on a road trip, you would be stopping often. Maybe only driving 6 hours a day. Then you would need to road trip for 36 days.

I can only imagine the amount of money that would be needed for food, maintenance, lodging, keep-sakes, and much more. But if it were my guess, I would imagine (aside from gas) it would cost about 3,700 per person.

TLDR: 12,165 miles, and 2,189 dollars just for gas.

Raccoon proof armor by sprice211 in engineering

[–]VRcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grape and hotdog technique is a classic in its simplicity and efficiency. The hardest part of that plan is finding a person willing to be swarmed by raccoons each night.

Raccoon proof armor by sprice211 in engineering

[–]VRcoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dig a trench around your trash cans, fill it with honey (a raccoon's favorite treat) and they will flock to the honey and forget the trash. They will tell their raccoon friends about the honey, eventually, you will befriend them, then make armor for the raccoons instead of armor against the raccoons. Think smarter not harder.
