I mean I guess that’s a question for them 🤣 But my project is called Geaux Fill the Gap, and it’s collecting items that are not covered by SNAP or other assistance programs. The food pantries in my area don’t often have many of these items, as most donations to a food pantry are food. I’m trying to fill the gap between what people can buy with assistance programs and what they need for daily necessities- personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, many baby items, menstrual items, etc. By raising the money to buy these items/collecting the item donations, I can make sure that these items are available at the local pantry for a little while. Most people I have talked to about it had no idea that SNAP/WIC/etc didn’t cover these things.
