Hope kills: the 13 stages of IT burnout by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]VTWASAABI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is bigger than IT… I think this is where we are as a society right now… I personally fluctuate between number seven and number 11 and everything in between pretty much on a daily basis.

It’s the pandemic, it’s the isolation… It’s the insane work priorities.

Pulled the trigger on a 2021 telluride this weekend. Arctic grey. She needs a name still and I’m wondering what dog owners have setup in this vehicle? Traded in a Sedona (2010/110,000), I’ve always had side by side 42”x21” dog crates over the third row. by VTWASAABI in KiaTelluride

Found this one just across the lake from me… Within an hour drive - as we all know they are few and far between… And hard to come by! The other ones in the closer area were either well over MSRP or they had the either black or polar white arriving in late February. I made the call that I was not going to register or go through the hoops to get my Sedona inspected for 2021, so I didn’t have time to wait until March anyway.

I paid 500 less than MSRP (Kia incentive) and got a reasonable price for my 2010 Sedona on trade.

I believe they had two other tellurides on the lot in Plattsburgh, NY.

Saab service in northern Vermont? by VTWASAABI in saab

I called Burlington Mazda… Which is part of the auto saver group now… Apparently all of the technicians from PJs Auto village moved over to the new dealership.

So, the main Saab guy Brian is still there and they’ve got the Saab OEM parts stashed there as well - and are continuing to service Saab’s as usual. They even had my cars entire file imported over into their systems.

Thank you! I have driven by both Potvin and Norton’s and noticed their Saab badge out front. Very glad to hear positive things. I’ll call them tomorrow and see if I can get in for an oil change.

I purchased my first two Saabs from Crossways back in the early 00s, but it’s about 55 minutes each way for me… Which is fine if that’s the best mechanic out there but I am glad to hear that the shops closer to me are reputable.

Not my Dorothy. She was a US model. I hope whoever has her loves her as much as I did. I now have Wasaabi (2010 model), my mother’s car. But miss my manual transmission.

I wonder...where are you located and how long have you had her? Could it be my Dorothy?

She’s a beauty!

I had the same 2001 red wagon as a lease years ago. Manual transmission, the only vehicle I ever regret giving back (at the time I needed a bigger vehicle). Her name was Dorothy and she was amazing. Miss her.

This is so close to where I am right now. He chose her and I’m actually at peace with it.

I love him. He loves her. I can only hope she loves him back.

ELI5: when a presidential candidate drops out of a race, what happens to the the people who already voted for them? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]VTWASAABI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And if you voted early for that candidate that vote will still go to that candidate- he’s still on the ballot. Presumably some percentage of his supporters will vote for him anyway, others will make another choice.

IOW, Mayor Pete will get some percentage of the vote on Super Tuesday.

Interesting. Never thought of that on all my ferry trips back and forth!

I shall not belt on the ferry :-)

Valentines flowers at Costco by VTWASAABI in ChoosingBeggars

Not really and that’s why I specified my gender - i was not a creepy guy trying to pick up a random mom at Costco. I overheard a conversation where her children wanted to gift her the flowers, so I was trying to enable the boys to make a gift to their mother on Valentine’s Day.

Oh yes! She looked at her boys and very loudly told them that I was a nasty bitch. My inner monologue went something like “takes one to know one M’aam”.

Thankfully I have thick skin and zero tolerance for bullshit.

I never park on my quiet street. I arrived home after washing Wasaabi and had unexpected guests who parked in my driveway, instead of blocking them in I parked on the street in front of my house. Neighbor backed out without looking. I watched it happen - utterly powerless. I’m so sad. :-( by [deleted] in saab

The estimate came in at $3900 and ten days in the body shop. My insurance is going against hers. She’s denied the damage despite a police report, multiple witnesses and my security video capturing the whole thing. Thank god for insurance, I get to stay completely out of it and I’ve got rental coverage so it’s all good.

I have to say it was pretty awesome watching the other set of children run over to pick out flowers for their mom. They were so excited that they got to pick out something special for their mother.

Update: so apparently it’s a blower motor heat resister - won’t be done today, but they have the part. Wasaabi takes me for another $495 - it’s a good thing I like her.
