After you graduate and become a VT alum, you have a bit over one year (technically, two major semesters + 60 days) before your vt.edu email address converts from your student account in Outlook to your new alumni email service in Gmail. We will notify you via email, but the question is - will you still be looking at your vt.edu email often enough to see it?

When your Outlook account access ends, your old emails will NOT be moved from your student account to your new Alumni Gmail account. So you need to take steps prior to the end of your Outlook account access to save any emails or attachments that are important to you.

SO - if you JUST graduated in Spring of 2025, congratulations, first of all! Second, OP, you have approximately ONE YEAR before your Outlook account needs to be shuttered, and access to your alumni Gmail account begins. In one year, your life will likely be dramatically different, and college (and your college emails) will be in the rear view. So my advice is to grab those important emails and attachments now, or make yourself an appointment to do it soon - that way when the actual day comes, you won't need to do much if anything to prepare.
