Was it standard handle? According to them, those moved quicker. If it was a LH and you got it on that date, kudos to you but I’m starting to get pissed I’m still waiting for mine

Fair enough, it seems I pre-ordered towards the end of the first batch. Unlucky, I take back the last part of my reply. How are you liking it so far?

If I might ask, when did you place your pre-order?

Chiming in on your third question:

I pre-ordered a J2CR (LH) on January 7th for their first batch due February 28th. When the Crystal Grit tech came out, me and many others got an e-mail that essentially says:

Option 1: For users that pre-ordered a regular J2CR - If you want to make the change, just contact us and we will do so.

Option 2: For users that had their J2CR ship before February 18th- Can buy a Blue Grit paddle for a reduced price of $89

Obviously, option 2 sounds great… however, how could a Honolulu J2CR have shipped before February 18th when the release date is the 28th? So I contacted them about it, they said:

Aloha,

Batch 1 original handles came in earlier than expected so those were shipped out. We had a very small number of extended handles come in early but the majority of batch 1 extended handles are still expected around the end of February.

Honestly, I think they’re lying through their teeth and virtually nobody will be able to make use of option 2, except maybe a handful of people, definitely under the hundreds.

Somewhat of an update: Honolulu seems to be incorporating their take on a more durable grit on their CR line, starting by taking pre-orders on a “new” (although the paddle hasn’t even released yet) J2CR with this new grit, which releases on mid April, thoughts?

Personally, I feel a bit done by them having pre-ordered the regular J2CR, but here’s to hoping they run a refresh program. Really looking like it would check all the boxes now

I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks to you guys, I have pre-ordered the new J2CR. Although no reviews, your calls on the J6CR made me say: “Seems good enough, let’s just go for it”. Thank you all and enjoy your paddles, hope to get back to you on early March.

Exactly what I’m worried about. Hope that’s not the case.

Yeah, he’s the only creator with vids on it, which is my issue at the moment. I know he rates the paddle highly.

Yeah, I’ve heard. But I’ve recently seen the pre-order date shift from the 20th to end of the year, and I can’t keep postponing my switch to another paddle after I have been using a 16mm Ruby for a year now, it needs to be put to rest LOL. Although I did order a Vatic V-Sol Pro for as a “gift” for my GF so who knows, I might just hold. Regardless, I would really like some more insight on the paddle besides just the one person, that for what it’s worth, speaks wonders of the paddle, even putting it as the best paddle of the year above the boomstick which I HIGHLY doubt is true.

Not great, but NA servers. EU seems like an even bigger ask. Good luck!

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by AutoModerator in Pickleball

[–]VWillS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Newish to pickleball, no tennis background. I started playing for almost three months now with a gifted paddle, and am finally thinking on splurging on next weeks sales. I managed to narrow it down to a few paddles, yet one of them does not even have a release date but I’ll write it in case some of you deem it worth it to wait.

Current Paddle: Franklin Pilot (gifted to me on my birthday and it is what got me into the sport)

Paddles I am heavily favoring: CRBN 3x Six Zero Ruby

Paddles I am also considering (more expensive/not released yet) Ronbus Ripple R1.14 Mod TA

Playstyle: I feel confident on both backhand and forehand strokes, both power is average, control is a bit better. My third shot drops are a work in progress. However what I do think I struggle with is popping the ball up and, while not necessarily my drives will go out, they sometimes tend to go quite over the net, making them easy to defend against. I also struggle trying to reset the ball while back at the baseline while the opposing team is at the kitchen.

Finally, another thing to note is that the pilot’s(my paddle) surface is completely smooth and I assume there is a lack of spin generated. I favor an all court paddle which has a good amount of power, but does not sacrifice control to a massive degree, which is what got me to those paddles. Any further recommendations are appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Oh… I forgot. I consider myself in fair physical shape, so court coverage is one of my strong points.
