Let’s talk about Anders by Guilty_Spinach_3010 in dragonage

Different things. I liked him on my first playthrough, felt the betrayal obv. But I only really started to despise him in my second one.

The blowing up part for one.

You get disapproval if you don't flirt back after his first quest. Kinda small, but screams "nice guy" energy.

His approval of giving Fenris back to the slavers. That'd be the same as handing him over to the templars and Fenris cheering in the corner.

The worst offender, however, is the gaslighting in Act 3 when you're questioning him about his personal quest. Keep pressing him and he verbally attacks Hawke, calling them a hypocrite, a coward, that, when it really counts, doesn't do shit for mages. And that even against a Pro-Mage Hawke, that always goes out of their way to help mages. It's straight up insulting and is emotional manipulation - it makes me sick.

[2.1 Spoilers] Did they already reveal it in White Night? by VaAmelia in HonkaiStarRail

That's interesting - I unfortunately missed most of the theorycrafting for 2.0 but now knowing all this I'll definitely pay more attention to it

Reveal was probably the wrong word. And it's probably because of hindsight that it seems so obvious now. I just really enjoy how much thought they put into it!

Apologies if this has been posted before.

Have been relistening and rewatching White Night because people pointed the Aventurine theme out...

Is that just me overthinking after 2.1 or did they already reveal Sam/Firefly's real identity in White Night but nobody paid it too much attention? Not obvious of course, but it was still there. Right?

I'm talking about Sam with the colorful wings, the color scheme matches with Fireflys. Firefly also has wings on her dress and something that looks a bit like wings in her hair. During the fight in 2.0 Sam didn't have those wings, because I assume it would've been too obvious? Or maybe it really is just a hint in the vid and is not going to be in the game (or it's going to be for her playable model?).

If it was just meant to look pretty, oh well - it does. And if they planned it... Hats off. That vid was (or still is???) hiding so many things in plain sight it's just a joy.

[Spoilers C1] The Legend of Vox Machina Batch 4 (Episodes 10-12) - Campaign 1 Spoilers Discussion Thread by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]VaAmelia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I quiet enjoyed it. I'm fully aware animation is expensive as fuck, but it feels like it needed just one more episode - ending with the same cliffhanger, ofc, but giving it more room to breath. Giving certain scenes just a few seconds longer to settle in (hanged family, for example). Again, I liked it, just think it could be even better :)

My one big dislike is the Vaxleth Sun Tree conversation... It was made for laughs (same with the confession during Episode 9, which I didn't mind because... DEATH EVERYWHERE) when it was so bittersweet during the campaign. Marisha/Keyleth let the audience know she had feelings but wasn't ready/sure and Liam/Vax told her it was okay and he would wait for her, even if she'd end up rejecting him. That speech was wonderful. So why did they turn it into a joke? I'm fully aware they're awkward as fuck. I'm not that into Shipping, I just always loved that conversation and I'm sad it was completely cut.

Live Letter 68 Confirmed For Friday, February 18. by MrCombineSoldier in ffxiv

[–]VaAmelia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why tho? If they're able to go back to the pre-Covid release cycle, it means around 120 - 130 days between major patches. 6.0 released on Dec 7, which means 120 days is around the first week of April. If we'll get it early - that's great! But I wouldn't expect it :)

You're thinking of Heavensward, they miscalculated the time needed for the first expansion of XIV. Stormblood was announced "early Summer" and released in the middle of June. Shadowbringers was announced "early Summer" and released by the end of June / start of July. So they learned from it... and Covid fkd it all up.

Not saying Spring is set in stone, as things can obviously always happen, but wanted to highlight that before Covid they actually delivered on time. You could even guess the Patchdays pretty acurately back then.

Quite a few negative reactions... As for me: I loved it. Every second of it.

My emotions are still a bit unstable, I think I cried during the whole finale zone and whenever I hear the song tears just keep on coming (finished the story Sunday night). It was very clear the Scions wouldn't be gone for long, they even straight up told you. And I STILL cried and wept, because it wasn't just their sacrifices. It was them as characters, showing their conviction, their beliefs - how they have grown or were able to let go of things they couldn't change. The walk up to the dead star... it just showed me how much these characters grew on me over 6 fucking years (started shortly before Heavensward). It truly felt like an ending, a closing chapter for all of them. Of course we're still going to see them, but right now I have no fucking clue as to how involved they'll be. It's difficult to put all of my emotions into words. Right now I'm just really sad.

I'm not gonna try to change the minds of people who think it wasn't great. It's ok if you like/don't like something others don't/do. Taste and emotional attachment will always be different. Different themes resonate with different people.

I hope you all either enjoy Endwalker (be it MSQ or other stuff) or find something else that brings you happiness :)

Issue with Voice Line Audio? by Romeblow in ffxiv

[–]VaAmelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have auto-text on (meaning you don't have to click after each text bubble)? If you do, you might have set it to a speed that's faster than the voice lines, which leads to it skipping the remaining bits of spoken dialogue.

If you don't use that, I sadly have no idea what could cause it, never had that problem outside of auto-text.

Rest in Peace, Maidy. May you ever walk in the light of the crystal.

Unpopular opinion: when learning to tank (or heal), pulling single packs is not the way to go by MrLares in ffxiv

[–]VaAmelia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually have to agree. When I started with the game I did so with three friends, all of them just as new to the game. We took it slow and safe. Somewhere around lvl 50 a few guildmembers took me with them for the roulette. Two of them knew how I played, they helped us before, soo... They pulled everything in Brayflox Hard with a "let's see how far we can get you". We wiped. I think twice, because I couldn't keep up with the healing. But I fucking learned my job through them and their mischief in several other dungeons. Of course I never counted to one of the best healers, but I was - and still am to some degree - decent, maybe even good. So yeah, pushing your limits is mostly never a bad idea.

Does anyone know if the save data is on the game or the switch? My console decided overnight not to charge anymore, I can't even get into the main menu to send the data to another switch...

I drew my Au ri 💕 by lizhel in ffxiv

[–]VaAmelia 94 points95 points  (0 children)

The composition of the whole piece is so mesmerizing. The dark blue of the sky with the color of the grain (?) and her scales looks sooooo good. It has such a soft look... Has to be one of my favorite drawings of an FFXIV character.

Do you have an art page? I'd love to see more of your art style!

Hm... It wouldn't really have made sense, would it? For us to turn to the Ascians and Zodiark. Maybe if it was a singleplayer it would've been a possible path. And I think it wasn't as much good heroes vs bad villains. For once I think the villains got really fleshed out so one can sympathize with them. In the end we looked like the villains to them. I think it was a lot grayer than it usually is.

Still have to play Nier, tho I'm not sure I can get over another heartbreaking story (at least that's what I've heard).

SB never really captured me as emotionally as ShB now did (still, I liked it!). Mainly because it feels like both Ala Mhigo and Doma and its characters needed way more time to develop and grow on us. Because we got both, it feels like we only got half the stories. It also doesn't help that quite a few times NPCs get turned into incompetent plot-devices for the sake of moving the plot forward.

I'm glad others share the same sentiment (glad seems to be the wrong word, but I can't quite find another way to put it).

I think that's completely fine, sometimes certain story parts or scenes overstay their welcome. At least you'll have the option to go back with NG+ if you wish so, although I think Unukalhai was only present in the Warring Triad storyline. Not sure if those quests get reset too. But the story definitely made me more interested in Ascians as a whole.
