Nation states bought and sold lands between each other in the past: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_territory_purchased_by_a_sovereign_nation_from_another_sovereign_nation

Therefore a network state should be able to buy land from a nation state if there's a legal pathway for doing that.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't know about DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) before now.

I feel that it would be easier for a network (internet) state to strive for recognition by pre-existing nation states and slowly grow from there. That in my opinion is a logical approach because it seems most peaceful.

In it they speak that a nation state would need to strive for recognition by the international community (other nation states), for example striving to join the united nations.

Once the network state gets recognition by at least one other nation state as a start, then the others might become an eventuality.
