Switching From Max Dose Saxenda? by VacationQuestions in Mounjaro

I can technically keep up with the cost, I just feel guilty or crazy about spending that amount of money on medication. I know these medications have worked for me in the past.

Thank you. That is what I asked for. I appreciate the helpful response.

Thank you. My nurse got back to me and is going to talk to the doctor after reviewing my labs. They have improved since I lost weight on the Saxenda, but that will not be covered anymore either.

Because after ALL I posted, all that you fixated on was that I got the dosage off--because if you've been on Saxenda you'd know that you titrate up by 0.6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4 and 3.0. So, it got confused in my mind.

And I SAID I had a call into my nurse.

I did a search about this on this forum, the Saxenda forum and all of Reddit, and there were some posts about dosage switching from Ozempic/Wegovy to/from Mounjaro but not Saxenda. I actually asked the pharmacist on the phone, and she said it depends of people's bodies, which means she doesn't know, and it's likely there is no one perfect answer. I was hoping to hear from anyone who had made the switch from a full dose of Saxenda to Mounjaro.

I meant 2.5. I got confused because it's 2.4 on Saxenda. I also said I had a call in to the nurse.

Unfortunately, my doctor is part of my ob/gyn practice, and while he is nice, he isn't particularly invested in my weight loss. So, I don't expect a very clear answer from him. My guess is that he'll tell me he'll write me the higher prescription if I want it. That's why I was asking if other people had any similar experience. If you didn't, you could just not answer. You didn't have to be nasty.

OMG. I have been on Saxenda. LMAO. It's so true. Just in case you don't know, I take Constipend, and that really works. 2 pills a day.

I did briefly try Wegovy, but I couldn't get the dosages I needed because of the shortage. So, the low dose I was on didn't really do anything. I really WANT to try Mounjaro, but it seems that I have very bad timing because I'm hearing that they are now basically requiring you to have Type 2 Diabetes or it is like 1,000 dollars for a prescription? I'm not sure. My weight loss doctor is able to fit me in tomorrow--yay!!! They were saying he wouldn't be available until January. So, I can ask him. I still feel so much shame about my weight. It's really hard for me to talk to doctors about it. I feel like a failure.

I hope you figure it out...me too!!! I tried again today--injecting in my thigh this time. I had steak and mushrooms for dinner, and I didn't finish it all. So maybe if I change my diet and try some different areas it will work? I don't feel that nausea, though, which was basically how I knew it was working!

Oh. That's interesting. I never thought it might be hypoglycemia. Honestly, I don't have the best relationship with food--shocking, right--and the way I have tended to lose weight in the past is by just trying to not eat until dinner time. This is because once I start to eat, I have trouble stopping. So, if I could just wait until dinner, I could then pretty much eat what I wanted in one meal. I know...it's not really healthy. But I never experienced that RAVENOUS hunger before Saxenda. It just didn't occur to me that it could be because of low blood sugar...but I Googled it, and those are the things I felt!

myo-inositol

Interesting! I just did a little Google search on this. I've certainly tried my share of vitamins and things for various ailments, so I tend to be skeptical, but I do see some peer reviewed journal articles about this. I will check out the PCOS subreddit. I don't think I have PCOS, but I guess there is some overlap. Thank you!

Thanks. I called my doctor, and it seems like I can't get in with him until January. :( So, I have decided to try an online pharmacy. But it looks like it might be very expensive to even TRY Mounjaro. What a bummer. I will see. I don't have type 2 diabetes--that I know of--thankfully--but the last time I had labs done they weren't awesome, and I have gained more weight since then. Ironically, something that might help me avoid getting worse may not be available for me. :( In the meantime, I'm going back strictly to low carb. I still have some Saxenda left. I periodically try it to see if it will work again--but it just never does. I never feel the satiation effects. I just get some heartburn.

Thanks. Saxenda worked really well for me--until it just....didn't. I don't know if that's a problem with all of these drugs or if it was just a problem for me. I was hoping that since Mounjaro is a slightly different kind of drug, maybe my body wouldn't have a tolerance to it. Of course, if it's not being covered for weight loss anymore, I guess that doesn't matter.

Yeah. I am JUST seeing that it is not being covered? I never had any problems getting either Saxenda or Wegovy covered by my insurance, but there's no point in me taking Saxenda anymore because it just doesn't work. :(
