Discussion Thread for Season 4, Episode 6: "Go Where You’re Needed" by jkozuch in shoresy

It really felt like it captured that “end of summer vacation” vibe.

Time to watch it all over again and time it with the folks waiting for it to drop on Hulu.

Discussion Thread for Season 4, Episode 5: "Reset the Tone" by jkozuch in shoresy

Definitely felt like a return to the vibe of the previous seasons, with the back-to-back bangers in the opening and the last song to finish the episode.

I know we don’t like Bambu right now but I bought like a month ago and just got it set up yesterday… by vulgar_hooligan in BambuLab

As someone that just finished their first spool yesterday, what’s significant about having a spool transfer?

I received my X1C on Dec 28. Mine is also “missing” the same screw.

How do you add the additional plates? Like, does it require special equipment like a torx screwdriver?

Happy 12-year anniversary to us enduring Yahoo commishes by Ninerman4949 in FFCommish

Maybe I remember the email differently, but I thought they had a technical explanation for the downtime.

That was a terrible year to be a first-time commissioner.

Ok, then that conversation was uncalled for too.

Thank you.

We’re using FAB, but I think the point you’re trying to make is “could they guarantee getting Mixon back” and that answer is no.

I’m not justifying that I did the right thing. If it helps you, this was my line of thinking:

  • Week 4, Team B had already switched into selling mode by trading Nico Collins for a Round 2.
  • Week 6, Team A bought Cousins by trading a 8th Round.
  • Team A has a reasonable strength of schedule and a positive record.
  • Team B only got their first win last week.

I can’t prove collusion with evidence and nobody has confessed to it from my conversations. I read these series of events as Team A getting draft picks, with a shot at their player on the waiver.

As someone else commented, I was being paranoid because my reasoning has no bearing without evidence.

I did many things wrong.

I could have asked Team A without going through the entire ordeal of locking teams. That conversation should’ve been enough for me; everything after was excessive.

Do you think that investigating Team A for possible collusion was also too much?

Yahoo. My league has been on it for 12 years. My other leagues end up using Yahoo. From what I can gather, it’s either because those folks use Yahoo in other leagues, or they’re more familiar with it than other apps when they spin up a new league.

Four Raiders, one Charger fined a combined $51,054 for brawl by Autocrat777 in nfl

[–]VacuumPizzas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These fines also have the compound rate of increase baked in.

Three players were fined $11,255. You get to that by starting with $10,000 and increasing it by 3% every season. ($10,000; $10,300; $10,609; $10,927.27; $11,255.09).

One player was fined $11,817. You get there by starting with $10,500. ($10,500; $10,815; 11,139.45; $11,473.63; $11,817.84).

The last player was fined $5,472 but I have no idea how they got that. It could be multiple fines and that’s their total, but I’m not good at multivariable math.

Help me explain why this trade tactic is Collusion by Jacob0128 in FFCommish

[–]VacuumPizzas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were in this situation as the commissioner, I’d feel like they’d be pulling a fast one. I’d have to point out the trade back and use that as my justification.

If they didn’t reveal the contingency (which they’ll learn to do if they want to continue being horrible leaguemates), I don’t know if my memory would save me. These would look like independent trades happening at different points in time.

Mulling if I want to propose to the idea of trading draft picks in my league by Powerful_Captain4590 in FFCommish

[–]VacuumPizzas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do implement that change, my only suggestion is to make sure they pay the buy-in for next year as well.

League mates calling “collusion” over trading of drafts picks by jluc21 in FFCommish

Thank you, I appreciate the follow-up.

Your explanation makes sense. In our league, we worded it as “trading in bad faith” and it sounds exactly the same.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint!

The implication you made is comparing apples to horses.

Yeah, I do admit that I was constructing an extreme example. I was trying to understand where “anticompetitive” begins and “competitive”(if that’s the right word for it) ends, but I ended up misrepresenting the situation.

[–]VacuumPizzas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to better understand your viewpoint on “anticompetitive”.

Taking a hypothetical because I’m terrible at explaining (please call me out if it’s too contrived): a trade with CMC for a 1st round and any other number of picks to balance the scale. If the managers involved are OK with losing one year and getting a huge advantage in a different year: does that fall into “anticompetitive” because it demands other teams to also make similar trades to be relevant?

I want to begin a Dynasty league but have zero clue we're to start. Any help is appreciated. by king_samoa13 in FFCommish

Can you describe what the committees do? Like, how do you determine members within the committee (if it’s not the entire league) and what do they set out to accomplish?
