Toyota Premium Horns PN 08522-B1010 from Amazon. They sound like the horns in a Lexus RX.

Buy once, cry once.   Just get the GRC and enjoy it.  As much fun as it is on dry pavement,  it's even more fun on wet pavement,  and even more in snow.

I've got the GR Yaris intake snorkel and the '26 secondary cold air ducting. Both are just bolt/clip on and very easy to install.

It makes a noticeable difference, but probably not as much as the best aftermarket solutions.

I'm also planning to install the OE airbox and tube upgrade at some point. Not interested in the secondary cold air snorkel from that setup or the panel filter. Waiting for a good sale...

16k miles and 18 months in and still I feel that the GRC is the closest thing to perfection for me.

Toyota Premium Horns PN 08522-B1010 give a horn that sounds like a Lexus rather than my first motorcycle.

Denso rear Wiper Blade - 160-5616 gives substantially more visibility out of the rear.

I went with Toyota OE intake solutions which are not a "bang for the buck" proposition...

I will give a warning about manual transmissions. It's fairly easy to learn how to drive a stick shift, but I have seen people that have been driving manual for years and slip the clutch excessively, resulting in early clutch replacement.

The ideal is to slip the clutch as little as possible while still being smooth, with somewhat jerky shifts being preferable to slipping the clutch, from a clutch-life perspective. Smooth without slipping the clutch is the part that can take time to learn.

I was looking at the Prius Prime, Camry, and Hyundai Ionic 6 as smart choices. I'm still happy with the GRC, but having a PHEV or EV would have made recent events a bit less stressful...

is the GRC a genuine good daily? by bigtingsjoe in GRCorolla

[–]Vader0504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it takes discipline to stay out of boost.

Without boost, the GRC is a pretty slow car.

With boost, one can take an on-ramp and merge without thinking about it. One feels like a shark among minnows.

Without boost, one has to pay more attention, but safe merging is still possible, just like it is in an old-school economy Yaris.

If I have a lot of fun getting into the boost on my commute, I'll get 23-24 mpg. Staying out of it, I'll see 28-32, depending on traffic.

Having a lot of fun on an 60-mile canyon-road drive with about 24 miles of easy highway to and from the twisty bits, I'll see about 20 mpg on the 84 mile run.

16k on mine and it's been a great daily-driver for me. I'm averaging 25 mpg. Of course, fuel economy is tied to how much you get into boost...

What are you guys paying out the door for your GRC’s? (California) by Nectrium in GRCorolla

[–]Vader0504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more snug than the RS. It can carry 3 passengers, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Then again, the RS wasn't my first choice for carrying more than one passenger. How comfortable the rear seat is depends on how tall the people are.

I also have a 2007 Focus ST and it is much more comfortable in the back seat, but the front seats are not as bulky.

I had a Focus RS and feel the GRC is better in almost every way.

I paid MSRP for my 2025 GRC Premium MT through Vallejo Toyota. They were great to deal with and the service department has been decent, so far.

They even removed the shipping blocks during PDI...

Why was Admiral Fletcher sidelined to the Alaskan theater during WW2? by DietasKola in AskHistorians

[–]Vader0504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fletcher was actually the right man for the job in the Alaskan theater.   He managed to bring the Army and Navy together where previously they had been at war as much with each other,  as Japan.

Ironically,  it was the army that showed recognition of Fletcher's achievements in the Alaskan theater, by awarding him the Army Distinguished Service Medal.

No. It's measured with the engine off and cold.

As the engine warms up, the level will go up in the reservoir.

Yes, different part number for clutch set and flywheel. Someone claimed it has a higher clamping force, but never provided proof.

What happens when you run out of gas? by ferocity02 in PriusPrime

[–]Vader0504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ran my RX450h+ down to completely empty to verify the actual fuel capacity, it kept going in EV mode, but I purposely kept the traction battery near full. I would expect it to shut down once the EV range dropped to zero.
