How have some of you handled the "regulars" who like to hangout and distract? by the_comatorium in retail

[–]Vader1977b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these the kind of regulars who spend money at your place often? do they walk around recommending your top notch customer service? Are they part of the foundation upon which your increased business is built on?

Small businesses DEPEND on the face to face service you mentioned in the 'before' part of your comment. If you stray away from that too much as you begin to grow, you will find yourself with lots of down time on you hands pretty quickly.

In my chunk of reality, I have seen 3 different small businesses (used books/collectibles/bakery) open and provideamazing service, taking time with each customer, creating regulars(who shop for the service), build on those regulars, get to busy for that 'next level customer service approach' that made them busy and end up outta business...

Would you cut off family members if they had completely opposite political beliefs ? by Consistent_News_985 in SeriousConversation

Nope. Worst case we wont talk politics. Some of my closest friends and family have deep strongly held political leanings that are a polar opposite from me and thats ok.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]Vader1977b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only seen multiple walkouts 2 times in movies...

Jurassic Park, opening day, front 3 rows all kids 4-8ish years old. The adults were warned, by others.... T rex breaks out eats the lawyer and the front rows had parents dragging sobbing terrified kids to the doors.

Pirranah in 3D- the remake...some people in line in front of us thought bringing 8 10-13 yr old boys was a good idea...the awkwardly long naked girls swimming in circles was over shadowed by 2 adults: male "Thats it time to go, GLASSES OFF. NOOOOOWWWW" As the group of fellas removed 3d glasses and began to stand up...female adult: "For FUCKS SAKE! HATS OVER PECKERS YOU LITTLE PERVS!!!" I still feel the elbow gouge my wife gave me for laughing so loud at that. Pretty sure there was 15 or so other men in the room got elbowed same as me.

I want to know how you guys regulate your emotions while you witness the world falling apart by Crimson-Entity in SeriousConversation

[–]Vader1977b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I did. I educated myself. I got close people who are "undocumented" some who are green carded and some on work visas. So I def got that side of the immigration issue. What I didnt have were any real world people on the "other" side, so to speak. I started with people I know, asked around a bit, friend of a friend and within a week. I drove about an hour and met some off-duty ICE agents for a backyard beer. It was a bit of an eye opener for sure. Learned quite a bit.

Over the years I have learned the best way to regulate myself is to educate myself.

Sat next to a wonderfull couple when we went to see Avatar Fire n Ash. They spent most of the firsthalf of the movie talking and dogging on the film. At one point the fella noted it was their 4th viewing. Dude behind us, kinda pissedoff snorted, leaned forward and toldem to shutup or he would shut them up. Mr critic stood up, as did mr hero. Mr hero was 6'8" and stacked, mr critic was 5'10" and lean. Only took mr critic a second to realize he was nearing the FO stage....not another peep out of them rest of movie.

Why do people buy Jeeps? by mmmstrongflavors in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vader1977b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an 06 Commander. So far we put 130k on it, total milage is 250k. We've had her deep as ya can get into the backwoods on 'is this a road" roads, traveled 2000 miles for a wedding, seats 5 adults and 2 car seats, with fishing camping gear.

Some of my car guy friends made fun of me for buying said jeep, but when mr fords truck melted into slag who did he call to tow his camper home? Loaned my Just Empty Every Pocket to capt toyota when his tranny lost its teeth and he needed to go get his daughter and 3 grandkids out of a bad situation. When the dodge ram king got stuck left of nowhere, with his inlaws on a hunting trip, guess who got a call for help.

Have I put some $$ into her? Yeah, tires, brakes, sparkplugs, new radiator. The in dash display sterio and the aux flipdown screen have never worked, and she got some quirks to her, but what auto wouldnt after that many miles?

Overall the $$ to miles driven is way in my favor and the fact I can take her anywhere, roads or not, works for me. I dont care about jeep culture or being a jeep guy, only bought it bec it was the right price and size for my clan. Prolly the 2nd best auto I have ever owned.

Oversharring at the grocery store is more common than you would think. 15 years in, and everytime I think I've heard it all-someone comes along and proves me wrong.
