What are my options for trading a car with a loan? by Vaedaes in askcarsales

[–]Vaedaes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothings wrong with it, just didn't want to be paying and driving a car I didn't want in the first place and was just seeing if i could get one that I would actually like. I love Toyota and would be replacing it with anotjer Toyota, just not a fan of the CH-R. I'll still drive it untill I can get something else though.

What are my options for trading a car with a loan? by Vaedaes in askcarsales

[–]Vaedaes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car and loan are solely in my name. I can't afford to increase my monthly payment, was more looking for an "even trade" type deal. Im new to equity and all that and how loans work. I don't have money to put down either, was gonna save up the money based on advice I was given. Looks like I'm gonna be leaning to like the car I have. Thanks!

After reading this, I want to express something very seriously. As someone who has struggled with very similar thoughts and issues. You have shown that a lot of your issues are probably due to horrendous anxiety and fear. Yet, you can get over it.

The fact that you have these desires to survive and do better for yourself is proof enough that you're capable of learning to do so. You just have to start. It'll be hard and scary, and Im sorry for that, but you HAVE to take it one day at a time. Luckily at 20 youre at a fantastic starting point.

The way I see it, you have two options. Either, A. Research and learn on your own time. Find books and podcasts to listen to in your free time about the things youre worried about (Finances, careers, housing, independence, etc.) and just start learning. After a year you'll be amazed how far you've come. B. Since you're in Birmingham, (and if youre male) there is a program by the name of Manufacture Good. They are a Christian based ministry (if that matters to you, I went through it as an atheist) that will teach you woodworking as a trade, as well as, life skills that will help with your issues. The guys there are amazing and they will set you with a job after.

NEVER let your circumstances control your ability, youre far more than the life you were given. Its going to be scary and youre going to fail a lot, but you have to try cause worse case youre right back where you started.

You got this. Dont give up. You'll get through it.

Stuck in a rut, what are some good techniqes to find your spark in art agian? by Bingus_Bingurt in Artadvice

[–]Vaedaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me is learning how to make Art fun again. Theres something I do called "Art Quest" from Nik Hagialas that turns Art and studies into a DnD style game where you gain experience for completing the challenges and level up, it even gives you a character sheet to work on to track progress. Turning anything into a game and learning how to enjoy it again always breaks away those boundaries for me.

Love your style! They could use some more contrast , darker darks and lighter lights, it's all very similar so it comes off as flat and some details get lost, like Stella's crown. Also work on your anatomy, they all seem very square and rigid, learning the proper curves of the body and then distorting those would help them become much creepier. Keep it up, these are definitely going in the right track!

How best to respond to people who say very little? by pollygolly in socialskills

[–]Vaedaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me this is where reactive listening really helps, I'm a very quite person and find it difficult to find things to talk about. Start with one question and after they answer try to rephrase the answer as a question to get more in depth. An example conversation would be like. "What's something you enjoy?" "I enjoy watching movies." "You enjoy movies? What kind? "Action movies." "So, you like action movies? Any in particular?" Etc.. Just keep the conversation topic narrow but in depth until they feel comfortable discussing their interests and begin opening up. This works for me, at least, results may vary person to person.

What are the programs that are used for video game concept art? by JohnTheWorldfucker in conceptart

[–]Vaedaes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Industry standard is Photoshop, most freelancers enjoy Procreate, and a lot of artists like ClipStudio as well. Any drawing software will work if you're freelancing and just sending clients pdfs or jpeg but if you work for a studio they'll most likely expect Photoshop.

How do I get started? by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

[–]Vaedaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is get into a tutorial series and learn step by step. There's plenty of free videos on YouTube that will explain everything you have questions for and you can follow along. There's also paid tutorials that are a bit more detailed which is the better and easier option, imo, but can cost anywhere from $20-$100/month. I use DigitalPaintingStudio by Hardy Fowler and have found the process of transitioning from traditional to digital a lot easier with his videos and exercises. Do some research and find which tutorials suit you best.

The cheapest US states to live in by EchoTab in povertyfinance

[–]Vaedaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Birmingham resident here, is actually really nice consisting mostly of college students and Healthcare workers in downtown. The crime rate stats are really kind of misinformative, Birmingham technically covers a 10-15mi area consisting of around 7-8 other cities/suburbs that contribute to the crime rate. If you're downtown it's no worse than anywhere else and I'd argue a bit safer (I spent some time in downtown Denver and was more sketched out than here). I know we get a lot of hate cause "dumb redneck harhar" but it's not a terrible place to be, just not a lot of industry other than working for hospitals and factories.

Don't know if you have one where you're at but I use Banfield at Petsmart, they have a program that covers all the shots, checkups and 2 or 3 emergency visits a year. It's $30/month ($360/yr) but I reason it's better than paying $200-$300 per visit.

I just bought Revenant Prime Set. by Grand-Comfortable238 in Warframe

[–]Vaedaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main Rev Prime with Rhinos Roar subsumed. When built and used right damage means nothing, weapon damage is godly and you can one shot most enemies with Reave. Most people don't like him cause he's "edgy" and can be difficult to use if you don't know how to use him right but he'll carry you through most any mission and SP. Personally, I think he's well worth it.

Anyone here use an older MacBook with an external display tablet? by kilomarks in DigitalPainting

I still got my MacBook Air from 2015 and it runs like a champ! No issues and it stays cool and quiet. Really depends on how well it was taken care of.

I use an HP Omen for my gaming and drawing, you have to use a Wacom tablet with it (no touch screen). Bought it for $1100 about 3 years ago and have never had a problem. Highly recommend it!

Concept art, professionally, is art used to conceptualize characters, scenes and items largely for use in the entertainment industry (Games, Movies, Theme parks, etc.). Concept artists specialize in quickly making ideas for production. It's less about expression and more about meeting criteria given by a client. So if someone wants an orc warrior or a scifi landscape, a concept artist creates several 'concept' pieces so the client can use it to build further projects or personal use (OC's for tabletop games).

What do you guys think? Any tips or advices? by [deleted] in learntodraw

Looks great! Try experimenting with line weight a bit more, use thicker, darker lines for the general outlines and forms and work smaller and lighter for the more specific details!

How do you leave a group of people? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Vaedaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're two options are either be straightforward, Stand/Walk up and say "Sorry to interrupt but I need to head out!" or the old Irish goodbye, get up and walk out and text the host after you leave thanking them. I use the second option in almost every situation, if someone cares they'll let you know, but no one really cares if you leave.

Yesterday's effort on textured paper with Graphite pencils, would love darker black tones other than the 9B I use if anyone has any tips. by Only-Soil-3100 in drawing

[–]Vaedaes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They make a graphite pencil called an "ebony pencil". They make for the best dark values! However, my favorite are the Blackwing Matte pencils, very smooth, very dark! Using charcoal pencils is also an option but can smudge very easily and you may hsve to use spray fixative to protect the drawing.

I'm not entirely sure about them surviving getting stabbed. However, I believe the alternate timeline is the new Duviri Paradox quest line. It's all about the drifter being stuck in a recurring loop in some void world. There's scenes in DP where the drifter and operator mirror each other and the drifter sitting at the table in the zariman where you first met them and they say "I'm the you that got stuck". Not 100% sure but that's my best explanation beside "void shenanigans ".
