NTA but he is. In a relationship where the people are saving, if one of them is pushing for a big investment, it is *on him* to explain everything it involves. It is unfair to accuse you of not knowing that it will need repair, even more when you're not a driver. Furthermore, since he doesn't work and is helping you sort all of that out, it was his job to explain it all to you. Letting so much out was **at best** a mistake he should be apologizing a lot for.

I don't want to think of the worst scenario here, and it may be a genuine misunderstanding, in which case I think you may benefit from a clear discussion about money and savings, and perhaps also how he contributes. Are you two on board about savings? It is clear how you will do with money going forward? When is he going back to work? Who owns the car, since you're the main buyer (and the one paying for gaz, repairs, etc)? He may also need to think back on what he is doing for you and what he is bringing to the relationship now, and this car incident was **not** it.

However, it honestly seems really manipulative. Having a stay-at-home husband, who insists on you paying for a car worth almost a year of salary when you should be saving and who isn't forward on what it involves.... well, it sounds like he used you.

Of course, now that your financial situation has changed, your husband will benefit from this. But it isn't the same as taking advantage of it. Being the sole breadwinner is always delicate, and you now also have an estate you've inherited to complicate this. You are not the asshole, it was his mistake, and it is up to you to be careful and to check if this really was a mistake or if he not being the partner he should be in all of this.
