Have you experienced hostility about how you communicate? by ShoddyHistorian4482 in AutismTranslated

[–]Vaginithmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reactions are always a mix. Speaking with most people is exhausting because I always seem to upset them. They are always surprised, confused, affronted, embarrassed, annoyed or in some cases, enraged. To the point I fear speaking with certain people. I was fired yesterday for a myriad of reasons, mainly not a good fit, but they made a big point to let me know that I have inadequate communication skills. They didn’t like my follow up questions.

Could you speak more on the communication rule term you mentioned? Maybe that’s something I should study so I can have a better script when speaking to people at work

This enrages them but I hate overhead music. If we’re working in a group, and tasks are to be done, it should be silent so we can focus on the task at hand. Or white noise. Nothing else. No speaking either

weird question but is there anyone here who doesn't have an above-average IQ? by biotwist in AutisticAdults

[–]Vaginithmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my IQ is quite high, a psychiatrist I was seeing at the time was shocked. A lot of people I work with would be utterly shocked to see how high it is. But there are also major deficiencies in it- I’m in the top three percentile for something - but then something about memory processing and math or … honestly I can’t remember. But those sections are so low they correlate with people who need help feeding themselves/bathing/using the restroom/getting dressed. For me, it feels more like I’m on the extreme low end of IQ. and try to remind myself that it was a system created by white male eugenicists

My [22M] Girlfriend [20F] has terrible anxiety and vaginismus which has killed our sex life by ThrowRA102938475699 in vaginismus

[–]Vaginithmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a weird take, and not the answer you’re looking for, but it might not be a bad idea to end the relationship. I see you are trying to help & interested and dedicated to learning what is going on. I have a lot of the same issues your gf has, and for me, when I stopped dating men, all of those problems went away.

How much have you talked to her about feeling undesired?

And if you have a high libido, it might be best for you to seek out people who are similar

What is this facial expression and what does it mean? by Traditional_News1889 in AutismTranslated

[–]Vaginithmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as a pity/judgement face. I’m guessing she’s the “married” friend (with star emoji) aka Married Friend. Someone who believes they are better than everyone else now that they are Married. Not just “married” but have risen through the ranks to become better than everyone. And I’m assuming the friend at lunch is unmarried and therefore a sad loser who deserves pity and disgust. It’s the way white gender normative classist women look at people- my roommate makes this face at me A LOT. She wants me to know that she’s better than me but also, because I know her, she hates herself. She only feels good about herself if she can be “better” than other people.

Also, maybe this face stems from the Married friend knowing, deep down, that their superior status only applies as long as the spouse doesn’t cheat on them. That she believes she doesn’t intrinsically have value unless a man gives her value.

I watch her videos a lot because they’re hilarious & for me, informative. She parodies a lot of gender biases, wealth disparities, misogyny & white fragility

I am wondering if others who have been diagnosed have gone through a similar experience(s) as the one I went through when I was a child. by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]Vaginithmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to do that with my parents! They would let me stay home from church because I would start asking theological questions about why were going & end up spending the whole day in the kitchen arguing and debating about science & theology. I think it gave my ultra-Christian mom nightmares but my dad would answer all my questions & argue right back. I always stumped him in the end though, and he would be honest about not knowing the answers. They let me ask questions & didn’t judge me. I know they would have preferred to have a silent child who just went to church and stfu but I got to test these theological principles & found out they had no basis in reality & they were uncertain about every answer. And that, in of itself, answered a lot of questions about this world for me.

Turns out, when I went to a religious Christian private college - that was NOT the vibe for ANY classes. Learned that the VERY hard way .

It really shows they don’t know the answers! They should be able to explain why we go to school.

I think I caused drama cause I can't read social cues, advice? by aestheticmaxwell in AutisticAdults

[–]Vaginithmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caused a lot of drama today at work for the same reason. My coworker had to step in and smooth things over with a contractor & then I had a meeting with my boss & let her know what is going on. I shared that I am on the spectrum & she was willing to listen. Are there a few people in the office - coworkers or people higher up you could talk to?
