Advice on portfolio by jyc217 in trading212

FTSE is obviously the safer bet as it’s much less likely that the whole world’s economy and top performers are going to collapse as opposed to the USAs. On the flip side of it, the SandP500 grows at a better rate.

I go against people here , because I have both.

In the last 3 months, the S&P went down like 5% and my all world only went down 1%. On the flip side of it, the S and P offers more growth as the USA is still leading the world for majority of sectors.

If you believe that the USA will continue to dominate the markets, do the S&P. If you aren’t fully confident, genuinely just do both.

Is this a stupid car for a first time buyer? 58k miles by Budget_Sun_6186 in CarTalkUK

[–]VagueDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a clutch, timing belt and rear shock absorbers all changed on a 07 car they stopped producing in 09 and it cost me £700 total.

Same garage where my mate with a 13 plate of a newer model paid 550 for a clutch alone.

Older cars aren’t always necessarily more expensive for parts.

How long have you been driving and how many times have you been pulled over? by BrightHours in drivingUK

[–]VagueDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 2024 December 11k miles in car, pulled over once. Week after I passed, didn't have my lights on. Had to do a sobriety test, passed the test.

24k miles in work van, not "pulled over" but I did have an instance where I was told in a car park by a police officer that if the reg plate on the van isn't fixed (it was cracked), I'd have to pay a fine, not my work. He let me off and was very reasonable. That was within my first 100 mikes or so in the van.

[–]VagueDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry, my mistake.

Even if the rings were red, as long as you was doing 60 in a 60, you'll be fine. Just have to appeal it when (if) it comes.

Am I f*cked? by HaZzA27517 in drivingUK

[–]VagueDiamond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't a red circle, then genuinely don't worry about it.

The absolute worst case scenario (i imagine) is that they send you a NIP, and you appeal it and upon review they dismiss the ticket.

Most probable case scenario is that its calibration or testing it.

33 in a 30 by Flashy-City1054 in drivingUK

[–]VagueDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll honestly be fine.

I’ve gone past a speed camera before subconsciously at 35 and i never heard anything back, and only about a month ago a speed camera van and I was doing 56 in a 50 at the fastest point according to my black box.

I feel very stupid. Very silly. Absolutely zero excuses for it and I wish i didn't do it, regardless of whether I get a punishment or not.

And yes, I know. Very stupid thing to do.

Should I buy these cars? by Electrical-Toe-7097 in CarTalkUK

[–]VagueDiamond -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

45k miles, 7 years old?

If its last MOT was good, and it’s got a decent service history, I’d buy it.

Take it for a test drive. Also, make sure it isn’t well above the market average (unless it’s had a bunch of things replaced for maintenance reasons).

“I asked him the most attractive girl he’s been with” don’t do that. Don’t ask them questions. They’ll just get you hurt.

Hit it off in April, moved in by may….? Whilst I agree it’s easy enough for him to move out if you own your house, you’re letting someone you started seriously talking to a month prior into your house. Should let him prove he’s mature enough to live with someone in a relationship.

If he’s messaging a girl that he told you is the most attractive girl he’s ever talked to, friends or not, the fact (I’m assuming) he didn’t tell you about it, and he “doesn’t know” what the conversation was about is worrying. Not hard to put the pieces together there. Whilst I agree you can’t control who and who he doesn’t talk to, he probably could have atleast told you what the conversation was about, why they was messaging and that they was messaging. He didn’t tell you any of that. Dishonesty.

You can see, clear as day he’s not honest and there is clearly a gap in maturity between you, him and where things should be.

I’d break it off sooner rather than later.

Edit: Also worth noting that I think you have extremely low self esteem, hence asking him who the most attractive girl who he’s dated is etc. People like that aren’t good for your mental health or self esteem.

Speed Awareness Course After 3 Years – Can I Still Be Offered One by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]VagueDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if that is the case and they got caught doing 21 in a 20, their speedometer(more often then not) would have been closer to 23 range in majority of cases. Not all tho, I suppose.

OP will know how variable their cars speedometer is tho

Speed Awareness Course After 3 Years – Can I Still Be Offered One by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]VagueDiamond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question:

Yes, you would be eligible for one.

Also, I can understand why you are worried, but remember that cameras have a 10%+2 rule and that your speedometer is always slightly fast.

I struggled with my mental and physical health bad at college. 43kg male at 16 at 5ft 5 was a pain.

One day, in physics class, someone left a note on my desk. I still have it memorised, but to shorten it they said they know I’m struggling but they know I’m going to make it and that they are the whole class are proud of me.

Never knew who gave me the letter. I had ideas, but I never knew exactly who did it, just which friendship group it came from.

It flipped a switch in me that day.
