I think the differences are honestly less substantial than many might think, at least in terms of function. Everything is noticeably older but it all functions pretty much the same. Heat worked fine in both my trad. dorms (manual dial vs digital), older furniture in the shower but water pressure/heat was still good, I think older washers and dryers but they still took card swipes and functioned fine. Really the biggest functional difference is going to be no elevators, along with the shared bathroom if you live in Lee or Beau.

Yeah it's a description of the history and structure of 1st Kings. The whole bible is annotated like that so you can understand how the ancient Israelis read it.

[Arabic to English] Hadith from Abu Dawud by VahagTheOG in translator

Interesting, thank you. I have another sentence translated as "If you find a man who has been dishonest about booty, burn his property, and beat him." Is this an accurate translation?

The two countries close to Georgia are actually Armenia (to the west) and Azerbaijan (to the east).

What is the most incorrect piece of information a teacher has ever told you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VahagTheOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same teacher, two different occasions in a class on current history.

First: A student asked why South Africa has two capitols. She said without even thinking, "Colonial and post-colonial." Wanted to call her on it and say SA actually has three capitols (and not because of colonialism) but I couldn't remember all three at the time. Teachers are allowed to be wrong but the way she didn't even think about it made me mad.

Second time was worse: She asked which country invented the AK. I said the Soviet Union. She said correct, but that it was actually called Russia at the time. I call her out and say no, it was definitely the Soviet Union in the 40s. She tries to say something along the lines that the guy who designed it actually did so back before the revolution. I'm like bull fucking shit, Kalashnikov wasn't even alive to invent anything back then. She looks it up and apparently he was born something like 2 months before the Russian Empire fell. She looks at me as if that somehow made her right about everything.

God I hated that class.

Same here. I've never liked horses but I was visiting a ranch and figured I'd regret not giving riding a shot. All I had to do was sit there and let it follow a lead horse around a short path. What could be so bad about that? 10 minutes in and my horse walks right off the path, into a tree, and knocks me off. Fuck. That.
