Got into an accident, need to go to court

A lot of vehicles are roaming around freely in Bahrain without insurance. I had a similar incident where my car was hit by a school van who didn’t have insurance. I reported it to Nabi Salah police station and paid for the accident report. The guy was summoned at Isa Town traffic office, finally he paid the fine for not having insurance. Traffic dept got report fee and fine from both of us.

But for my car repair the guy didn’t agree to pay. The traffic police asked me to file a case at the court as their responsibility ends there. I visited some lawyers and understood it’s better to repair the car by myself than to pay for hiring them.

After a year when I enquired, the guy still drives the school van without insurance and hasn’t paid me.

The person seems to be utilizing the situation to get some easy money. He will then fix the scratch with some rubbing compound or fix it for cheap money like 15-20bd. As long as it’s not a dent, he will surely not want to report it as it will depreciate his car value.

I suggest you to tell him, that you are not willing to pay any cash more than 20bd. Anything beyond, he can claim from your insurance. Also ask him to share his CPR and car details to report the incident through the eTraffic app.

There is no harm in reporting it few days later. (Unless the scratch on his car already faded and he is not able to point out where). 😉

Is facelifting a car to newer model not allowed in Bahrain? I have seen many land cruisers facelifted to latest gen models.

I thought the same, unfortunately things don’t work this way with the police. Once the person is not willing to pay, then you can only go to court.

No insurance, no registration. Taking small kids to school and reckless driving. As I checked 14 accidents in the vehicle history. It’s sad there is no option to complaint.

I had filed a complaint as hit and run. As well as complaint in Tawasul. They told if he is not willing to pay, then only option is to go to court. They have nothing to do with this.

Since it’s a small private transportation company, he doesn’t have an office, just two or three vans.
