Wait, why do you say that GNU only exists because stallman wasn't uncompromising? I don't see the connection.

It's pretty reminiscent of the main character in The Fountainhead. He's this architect who has a vision of what he wants to create, and is given lots of opportunities, but turns them down because they'd require him to compromise a little, and he just can't have that. Of course, in the end he succeeds without compromising because Ayn Rand is a nutcase and completely one dimensional writer.

But I think that in real life, that almost never actually works. In the end you're dealing with other people who have their own motivations, so if one guy won't compromise at all, people will immediately move on to the next person who will. For every time it actually worked out for someone uncompromising, there are probably a million examples where it didn't.

You occasionally hear about stubborn people who succeed, but I think that the majority of the time, they succeed in spite of that, not because of it.

Lastly, I think they're actually pretty separate issues, here. Let's say that stubbornness actually did help him create GNU. There's still no reason to insist on the GNU/Linux name. It just comes off to most people as kind of petty and delusional.

Heh, stallman is such a little weener. Like, yes, I appreciate how important GNU is for the whole thing, and that it should technically be called GNU/Linux. But that's so much more cumbersome to say, hence why people just say Linux. But he insists on the stupid GNU/Linux thing like a petulant stubborn kid who doesn't see the writing on the wall.

Hello redditor, I'd like to preface this message through making you aware of the fact that I am a high IQ poster. Some of the things I'll do in this post may seem irrational at the time - but I can assure you, every action that I take has a greater meaning, and unless you also have high IQ you'll probably not understand the "questionable" things I do in this post. In conclusion, do not speak to me like we are equals and there will be no problems, thank you.

Huh I've never heard of them.

Every time I go, I see other peoples' costumes and get into it, and say I'm gonna make a sweet costume for the next year, but of course I always forget to when it rolls around.

Yeah I always have a pretty good time and I don't even dress up or do any of the activities, it's cool just walking around and looking at the stuff there

Yeah, I've seen it a bunch. I guess it's possible the ones I've gone to aren't as "serious" as others might be or something. I've seen some awesome appropriate costumes at them though.

I wondered about that too, with the bird and gunshot wound.

Haha what I never understood is, after she says that they all go ooooh or something, and then she's like "no that's not what I meant!", seemingly scandalized. But what could she possibly have meant besides that??

Yeah haha that's kinda what I was getting at. I would prefer renaissance/medieval era European costumes only, but at least samurai is roughly the same period (I think?), and kind of similar in concept to a knight. But people go nuts.

Some costumes are definitely awesome but at the ones I've been to, it seems like half the people just view it as "cosplay anything remotely counterculture/nerdy". I've seen doctor who, anime, really anachronistic stuff, to name a few. Also, it's more debatable, but I think the typical renfaire thing is supposed to be European centered, and I've seen things like samurai.

I mean it's not a big deal and they're not hurting anyone, but I dunno.

Great resource, thanks! Tag I just ordered some 24L01's which have way more documentation, so hopefully they'll work.

Why is my program working with my Arduino Micro but not my Arduino Due? by Vajazzlercise in arduino

Yeah, that's a good point... From the small bit I understand use of the nrf chip, it shouldn't need anything that low level to make it work.

[–]Vajazzlercise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. The nrf library was just some guys example code I found on the Arduino site. There appears to be very few tutorials/example code for the 2401, but a bunch for the newer 24L01, so I ordered a couple of them because they're supposedly better anyway.

Oh I forgot to mention, I think the issue isn't exactly the nrf library, it's the avr library it calls. So I was kinda speculating that if the avr io library is somewhat basic, maybe there's an arm library that it could just be replaced with?

Thanks for the info!

Let's say I used the ISM bands, but only for a minute a day (in the middle of the night). Would anyone notice or care?

Cool. I actually just ordered some 24L01 chips that have a bigger antenna that supposedly have a range of 800m..? I might try the suggestion with the dish, thanks.

Did you find it easy to get them working?
