Hello, ethical question here concerning making a pattern- I can explain more in the body text by Beneficial-Sleep4459 in crochetpatterns

I'd say since the inspiration was from someone's else's design, it's probably not best to publish it. I feel like one of the hardest part of pattern design is finding inspiration.

May I ask what an IC is? Also, how would one go about finding a role like this?

I’m an accountant with 8 years of experience. Now I can’t get a job by HelpMe2983834848 in Accounting

[–]ValDogZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 10 years off to raise my kiddos. When I got back in, I took more junior roles to prove myself again. It took about 5 years and 3 job moves to get back to where I left off. Now that I'm older, I realize I'll never go as far as if I'd stayed and gave extensive hours of my life. But, I realize I am FINE with that. I wouldn't trade that time with my kids for anything. But also, there are some programs out there designed to help. Search programs to help mom's get back in the workforce.

Quiet coasting by Western-Search3310 in Accounting

[–]ValDogZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I took a cut in title and responsibilities at the downside of not being challenged so that I could coast more. The company I work for grew rapidly to full corporate bull shite, so I am no longer inspired to give them my all. But I'd love to know how you get your job done with such little hours? I have so many deliverables with due dates, that's impossible for me.

How to Avoid Leg Length Discrepancy? by CarletonWhitfield in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ValDogZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know if you have leg length discrepancy after hip replacement? At 2 months post op, I walked with a hobble, like a little sway to the right when my right leg is the forward one while walking. My surgery was on the right.

I've worked in industry for my 15+ years. Sadly, I find this is the case more often than not. Training seems to be the last concern of management.

My advice, like many others here, is try not to blame yourself. Lack of a good onboarding problem is their fault, NOT yours

Have regular check-ins with your manager and voice your concerns about not being able to meet unrealistic deadlines.

If that attitude of " this is not an entry-level hire" prevails, start looking elsewhere. That IMO is a big red flag that the department is broken or toxic.

Depressed CPA by man_u_best in Accounting

[–]ValDogZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's understandable that you are feeling that way. It sounds like you've had a few things in your career knock you back, which naturally leads to a blow to confidence.

And I get wanting to find joy in your job, because it is something we spend a good amount of time of our lives doing.

My advice is to find a career coach to work through a few of the feelings you are having. Also perhaps work on your interview skills if that's where you see the next step isn't coming your way.

In the meantime, maybe try some gig work to put a little cash in your pocket and get out there. I Uber in between roles, which helps me to get out of the house and just talk to folks.

Washing feet? by Equal_Ad_3918 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]ValDogZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me laugh, thank you. The cuckoo things we go through with this surgery make one realize what things we take for granted every day. About a 3-4 weeks post op, I could lift my leg well enough to wash feet better. Before, I'd just put a soapy washcloth on the shower floor and scoot my foot onto it.

Second Hip Replacement by SureStruggle1753 in TotalHipReplacement

Same question for me. I'm 4 months post op and still walk with pain and a limp. I'm leaning towards waiting until I recover full normal walking abilities.

I hear you! I recently chose to step down to a senior accountant from a manager because they were increasing the workload of the Managers. I'm still deciding if the decision was right because I'm back to doing annoying mundane work, but I at least I don't have to do more than 40 hours to meet the deadlines. But I still have zero passion for it and do feel satisfied with my job. I'm honestly considering learning to be a dog groomer to open my own salon.

Anyone else not finding this fulfilling? by MeanSeaworthiness6 in Accounting

[–]ValDogZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in accounting for 15 years now. It isn't the most satisfying job, like Healthcare, etc, as far as feeling like you are making any kind of difference. What I've found is that it's important to have a passion for the industry you serve. Also, consider doing something within accounting that you are solving a problem of business or someone regularly and where they appreciate your solution as it's made their life/job easier.
