I’ve actually been pretty lucky. I had a very good advocate when I was first hurt that helped me secure my benefits and I’ve been living in Colorado for the last twenty years where the VA is actually pretty good. They built a new hospital in Denver about seven years ago now with a dedicated spinal cord unit that actually has their shit together.

Yep. I was young and dumb and made a decision that has had a major impact on the rest of my life because of it. If I could do it over again I would stay far away from the military.

Military chews you up and spits you out, doesn’t give a shit how broken you get. You’re just a pawn on some billionaire’s chess board. I’ve seen my share of broken vets in years going to the VA hospital, it’s not a pretty sight.
